Chauvins Trial

Prosecutors and the defense delivered their closing arguments Monday in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, leaving the jury to decide whether Floyd’s death was caused by Chauvin’s use of force or a perfect storm of health problems, drug use and a turbulent encounter with police.

Late Monday afternoon, the jury began deliberating whether Chauvin is guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. It’s unknown exactly when the jury will reach a verdict, but the decision to convict must be unanimous among the 12 jurors.

He's already toast...

lost his job, got divorced, going to prison either way (tax charges?), and he had already offered to plea for lesser charges and something like ten years.....

This is a political dog and pony show...

overcharge, and if he's aquited of the overcharges, riot city for the idiots who don't even realize that he is already toast...

Trump called for peaceful protest. It's on video and everything.

donald.....clearly knew there were people in that crowd who were ready to explode and intended to be violent, how could he NOT know that..... and, he certainly did nothing to discourage that.

He not only did nothing to discourage it, he strongly hinted it should happen.

'If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore'

"We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn't happen"

"We will stop the steal"

"We won this election, and we won it by a landslide"

Etc......

say he’s guilty but gets a light sentence of few years, can the state appeal it  and try to get him with a longer sentence or only chauvin can appeal the ruling

true dat.....

Donald stood at a podium in front of a lot of police officers and literally told them to shove people's heads into the roof of their cars when placing them into the back of the cruisers.

Lol.

Now his wacky clown army defend one of the murderous officers that took heed to Donald's words to not be so nice to the citizens they were arresting.

Silly lot of folks that just argue to be arguing.

No, if it’s a legal sentence it cannot be appealed and extended. Double jeopardy/ 5th Amendment would apply.

I am no lawyer but I believe that would fall under Double Jeopardy. The state cannot retry a case if a verdict is passed, it works both ways whether found innocent or guilty. The defendant is the only one who can appeal the decision based on specific criteria... This would include egregiously bad counsel i.e. the defendant has an alibi however the lawyer did not use an alibi defense.

But shit what do I know?
