For football or any functional strentth gauge I would say measure the clean, squat, deadlift, & clean and press and your ability to do muscle ups and other calistenic/plyometric movements all before the bench. I eat lots of ultra high-quality foods (minus hot wings, chips, and frozen tacos lol). BIson, halibut, sockeye salmon, 100% natural ($10/piece) almond butter, organic bread, organic chicken, raw almonds, steaks, kale, apples, organic blueberries and raspberries, olive oil, red lentil pasta and so much more. I specialize in bench press and grip... football players should train grip too. They may be able to clean so much or whatever but can't do crap on a pinch block, grippers, etc Now if you go into the college and pro ranks, you may run into freaks who can do a lot on these implements with no prior training because genetics.
