Ohio Week 10

Moeller has been playing well recently. Not sure how good King is....ill take Moe by a FG. 24-21

I like Elders offense to carry them over La Salle. Elder 31 La Salle 28

Eds beats Hoban. Hoban playing better than earlier in the year, but I still favor Eds, especially after last week. 28-14 eds

West beats East. Great squad for East, but West is just better. West 28 East 10

Colerain vs Princeton is a great game to gauge how good Princeton really is. They looked very impressive last week with QB Lynn making his return fpr the forst tome this season and Engleman moving to RB. If Princeton really is a dark horse/contender, they should win by a couple scores. Princeton is far more talented than Colerain and I dont think Colerain can generate enough offense to keep up with the best offense in the GMC. Sure hope I'm wrong. My head - 31 -14 Princeton..My heart - Colerain 27 Princeton 24

King played Carmel,IN tight in the first game of the year (42-40). I think they could hang with Moeller for a half then the Crusaders will pull away. 42-21ish. Moeller is playing better now.

Colerain misses 47 yd FG  wide left on final play in wet windy conditions to lose to Princeton 13-12.  Odd that after having most of their kicks blocked all year, and 2 previous attempts bobbled and fail, they get off a pretty solid kick from 47 for the win. Kicker has the leg, just missed.

Great game by the Colerain defense against a great offense. Unfortunately, the Colerain special teams just have been awful all year. Blocked kicks, XP's and punts, and bad longsnaps, are a big part of the reason Colerain lost to Lakota East and Princeton, and was the turning point in the West game...and the reason St. X destroyed them.

Kirtland wins 41-7 to extend Nations longest winning streak to 50 games

if they win out their seniors will never have lost a game in their high school career

they are only D5 but did beat 2 D1 teams last year

Yes, pretty awesome what Tiger LaVerde has done with that program.

Ohio guys.... just looked at unofficial eitel rankings.

please explain how Moeller is ahead of StX.

Moe finished 7-3: X 8-2

Moe played 5 Ohio D1 games.... 3-2

StX played 6 Ohio D1 games ..... 5-1.  Beat Moe 49-16

Moe remaining games:

1 - Oh D2

1 - Oh D3

1 - Oh D5

1 - In D2

1 - Mi D3

StX remaining games

1 -Oh D2

1 - Ky 6A top div

1 - In top div

1 - Ga D6

Am I missing something here ?

StX loses by 1 to a down Trinity team, and St Ignatius

Moe loses to Elder, to a D3 Michigan team, and to X by 33.

please help me with this. I thought I understood the Harbins...

X is firmly ahead in L1s (head-to-head Harbin points).

Moe pulls ahead on L2s (basically the W-L records of its defeated opponents). I'm guessing they're getting lots of L2s from the wins over Eds, Ironton and East Central.

Harbin formula is L1 average + L2 average.

L1 average = L1 pts ÷ number of games played

L2 average = all of your defeated opponents L1 points ÷ L2 divisor (total number of games all of your opponents have played) ×10

Moe has more L2's

So what you both are saying, onL2 points - it is the record of the teams you defeated, even though you were playing against lower classification teams?

Since X beat Moe, does X get any points for the teams that Moe beat, or is that theBCS mindset?

Team 1 plays in Ohio D1 and goes 10-0 against all Ohio competition,  6 games against D1 teams, and 4 against D2 teams.

Team 2 plays in Ohio D1 also and goes 10-0 against all Ohio completition, with 6 games against D1 teams, and 4 games against D7 teams.

Team 1's, 4 D2 teams combined recorded is 20-20.

Team 2's, 4 D7 teams combined record is 30-10.

Both Team 1 and Team 2 played the same teams in their 6 wins against D1.

Does Team 2 get the higher ranking because D7 teams had a better record, even though they were D7.

To me, there seem to be some "gaps" in the Harbins.

Was it the Trinity record that cost X, because there is no disgrace in the loss to St. Ignaius on the road.

It will all play out on the field... that's the good thing. Thanks for you input.

You only get points for wins.

Losses - to anyone - are just a zero.

With wins, the higher the classification of the opponent, the more points it's worth.

A win over a successful lower classification team CAN be worth more than a win over a bigger class team with a bad record.

In the end, you want to win, and you get more Harbins the bigger and more successful the opponent is.
