Lake Travis vs Westlake

BIG match coming up in two weeks. LT won the last match 26-25 (2019) and the two did not play in 2020, first time not playing since 2005 (first match ever was in '06).

LT passing game will have to come alive as well as the pass defense. If that happens and if the OL and defensive front play like they have been, they will beat Westlake.

Calling on the Texas posters to chime in... this board gets enough GA, CA, etc... need more TX on here.

LT leads the series all-time 11-5

Hank Carter also has a winning record against Todd Dodge, and will keep that whether LT wins or loses this one.

LT running game will help control the clock and maintain balance on offense. LT defense front is tough, particularly on the DL. Secondary is a bit underwhelming but if they've improved and play well that should be enough for a win if the aforementioned happens.

LT wins it 34-31

If klubnik is back WL wins, if not it’s a close one.

I think WL overall is a better team, starting with their OL/DL. We will see how strong LT is up front.

Believe HF, believe!

Westlake's brand of football is unique. Mostly smaller, faster guys (especially on D) who play very sound and physical. Along with a diverse offense that is littered with good runners (QB included) and a passing game that any defense should respect. They give you a lot to prepare for.

True, however their DEs offer a little more than speed, as they have great length and height.

I dunno tbh.  In my mind...I see LT winning this game.

However...Greathouse.  LT has no answer for him.

I'll take LT.  But LT front 7 better get pressure on Klubnik or it's curtain...because y'all secondary is Meh.

I can agree on that. I just hope LT  doesn't get down by a couple of scores and then quit. That's never happened before, but I've seen other teams do this.

Haven't seen either team play this year.

All the Lake Travis losses I've seen in the past have one thing in common. They get dominated and pushed all over the field by bigger and more physical teams. They were playing championship mode North Shore in some of those losses, so that didn't help.

Still, they got to get tougher. If they've managed to improve in that area they'll have a chance. If not, I'm going with Westlake in this one.

I got to see Westlake in person this year and they ended up being better then I thought they would be. Greathouse is a stud and I am puzzled more colleges haven't came calling. They play solid team defense no real stars just extremely sound. They will double Caleb Burton all night tonight.

Because teams keep recruiting him as a TE.  Kinda like they did Adam West (the 6'8" terror of a WR from San Angelo Central).

Supposedly too slow to play WR in College.

WL is more stout than LT on both OL/DL. Their DEs are very disruptive.

This game thread is a week early, they actually play next week

their DC is pretty good. The O returned all the starters and star talent, but it’s the defense that is their best unit once again returning only 1 starter.

My only guess (because he’s a great player) is that he’s a bit of a “tweener” body of a TE but doesn’t look much taller than 6’1 -6’2. Good enough speed for a TE but not a burner by any means.

I personally think the kid looks great as a WR. I don't think he will be big enough to play TE just my opinion although that's where he is mainly being recruited. He has been pretty dominate since he arrived as a freshmen.
