Valdosta unanimously names a new HC

Ga96

Recommended Posts

Felton was the interim up until now.

I think this a great fit. Funny thing about this whole situation this is about as low as Valdosta will get football wise and they still beat and went head to head with teams that have nowhere near the problems the cats have.

Just think a down and depleted Valdosta. Went toe to toe with the packass and their staff of former HCs.

They blow out Houston Co.

Beat tift and should've beat Nswr

Depending on what happens Friday night @Ga96 @HawgGoneIt yall might be looking for one after Round 1/2

Well, while I've been being critical since last Friday, I'm actually a Rogers and Rodemaker fan. For me, I feel like Rogers can make some adjustments in his handling of the program, and his delivery to the kids, and possibly turn it all back around.

There's some that never would give him a chance, there's some that tried and there's those like me that hopes he can prove the naysayers wrong, not just because I like him, but, because it's better for the kids and program to have stability.

I'm also of the understanding that the administration likes Rogers. Having said that the more the pressure gets turned up from the community the more they'll be swayed. Politics is politics. When people want to keep their jobs, having the community on their side is a good thing. That's from the coaches all the way to the administration and board.

I'm pulling for yall to get a monumental beat down of epic proportions at The Pen in two short days. 😎

There needs to be an option for super/excellent post or something.

This post deserves 10 likes.

My opinion:

(Based off this year only)

The guy is 7-2 with 1 district loss.

Chill.

Rush ain't walking through that door.  The staff is doing ok imo.

Yeah. We have unseen issues that the record doesn't exactly show. Participation decline. That is where some adjustment can hopefully help. Development in the lower grades is a little scary. We've been winning at all levels for a good while, now we're seeing some serious beatdowns in some lower grades. We'll be using those same kids in the future, and the chances are they'll be playing against the same kids that are beating them now when they all get to Varsity. We can kind of see the future because we don't suffer the transferitis in region 1 as much as other places in the country. Watching those scores is kind of like reading the tea leaves of what's to come.

There's some warning signs there and we just a little over a decade ago had let it decline. I don't think folks will be willing to let it go that far again. Once we get antsy enough the pressure will be immense on the admin and coaches. The drum beat now will get louder and louder until it's deafening.

It's hard to say...but...Jim Hughes coached 17 seasons with one Championship.

There's a LOT more than just winning State Championships.

But you'd hate to see any team go from being a perennial title contender/champion to a middle of the pack/above average team. Highly doubt Colquitt wants to be back in that predicament. I know he (Justin) has  ring as an OC, but he has to pull it together sooner rather than later.

Why?

Hughes went from 1983-1994 before winning a SC.

Rogers has only coached 2 seasons before this year...which is not over.

Hughes went 6-5 in 86,87 & 88. 6-4 in 90 with no playoffs before he turned the program around in 91

To put things in comparison...

Hughes went 20-11-2 in his first 3 complete years.

Propst went 24-15 in his first 3 complete years.

Rogers is currently 25-6 and his 3rd season is still going.

Sometimes you just need to settle down and smell the cocaine....

I agree with Rufus, it ain't just about winning championships. My only real issues with Justin is we are literally seeing participation decline in the stands and on the sideline. Couple that with reading the tea leaves of the underclasses not looking like contenders. These are my issues. Win loss record is something that can be deceiving depending on competition. We all know our scheduling isn't where it was, so, I'm not sold on the record argument. I'm not sold on the pandemic argument for asses in the seats. The numbers declined dramatically this season before my very eyes. Especially the Hawg Pound which is our diehards from the black community. That's a major issue.

Others are having different issues with the coach than me.

I'm a Rogers fan. I just want him to do better with participation and development.
