Wildcat Will
UTICA, N.Y. -- The Utica Notre Dame football team may be playing in sectional playoffs, but they do so with an 0-7 record. Executive Principal Roy Kane tells NEWSChannel 2 that this past week, the school was made aware that the football team may be in violation of New York State athletic policy governing student-athlete transfer eligibility. He said "We immediately contacted the executive director of Section III athletics, John Rathbun, for clarification and guidance." Rathbun confirmed the infraction took place and told the school they had to forfeit all three of the teams' wins this season. Kane said that Athletic Director Martin Nemecek has been relieved of his duties but is still a teacher at the school. Kane will assume those duties while the search for Nemecek's replacement takes place. The team is still eligible to play in the Section III playoffs and will travel to Adirondack to face the Wildcats on Friday night at 7 p.m.
HawgGoneIt
I saw this story this morning. Pretty weird that they only had 3 wins and even forfeiting those doesn't exclude them from the playoffs.

Paramus catholic hasn’t won a game since before the pandemic started and I’m pretty sure they In playoff’s, could be wrong but pretty sure they in, it’s up to own team if they wanna forfeit out the state playoffs if they know they suck, u be surprised how many teams forfeit, and if you’ don’t forfeit u gonna get running clocked in first round because ur playing the top team round 1
Coletrain06
The Pandemic forced Ohio to go to a 64 team tournament last year, and I believe it was voted in as the new normal. Ohio D1 only has 71 teams so nearly everybody makes it. In Region 4, (Cincinnati area) Oak Hills is 0-10 and will be in the playoffs due to 1-9 Western Hills opting out.
HooverOutlaw
It is BS teams make the playoffs with records like 2-8 or 3-7 every year. A about 20 years ago in Alabama one of the smaller classes a team with a 1-9 record made the playoffs then they changed from areas with 4 teams very few had 3 to regions with 7 to 8 teams it helped but you still see to many teams with a 3-7 in the playoffs because the tie breaker favored them.

So 64 in each class make the playoffs?

Yard Dart
We had a Texas team make the playoffs with an 0-10 record not long ago. Four teams from each District make the playoffs, and they were in a 4-team District.

Being 0-for is not seen though, as far as I can remember.

Do expect that to change with realignment and the multiplier though.

Scarborough (Houston,TX) went 0-10 and lost in the first round... finished 0-11 in GA the top 4 teams in each region make it... Doesn't matter what the record is as long as you're top 4 in your region and that has led to some weird matchups... Some regions that are weak have 1-9,2-8,3-7 and 4-6 teams that get 3rd and 4th seeds... sometimes 2 seeds in the region is really bad or weak... 6A South Effingham(Guyton,GA) went 1-9 a few seasons ago and got in over a 5-5 team because the 5-5 team lost all their region games... including South Effingham....SE went on to get 4 seed and went to Warner Robins.... and lol.... They lost like 71-7
TheMaximumHornetSting
With that being said very few regions in Georgia are actually just 4 teams... Region 1-7A is and next realignment I doubt that'll be the case... I think the days of Richmond Hills Dodging are coming to an end...

I AM IRONMAN
Many 1 and 2 loss teams in CT don't qualify for the playoffs.
