It was frustrated sarcasm, Finch.

Take away all the Gunters and tiny teams from Iowa, Kansas and etc.....5A Woodlawn moves up 500 or more spots.

But they would have to move up 1,300 spots to be 258th.

Woodlawn is trash. Their win is not a reflection on them. It's a reflection on Baton Rouge Catholic.

Woodlawn is 4-4 and #1512 at Calpreps.....Woodlawn has played the toughest schedule in Louisiana this year so far.

Calpreps gives "numbers" to 15,000? teams in 50 States.

If you break down the Calpreps Top 2000 into tiers of 500....Woodlawn would almost be a Tier 3 team.

Gunter, TX being in Tier 1....

Dillard, a team you are high on in Florida beat #2160 Plantation 41-40...we will call Plantation a Tier 4 team.

Which one of those teams is trash, Dillard or Plantation?

Dillard (Fort Lauderdale, FL)   team preview   trend Florida 7A District 14 7A 8-1 3-1 (2nd) 3-1 49.5 14.9 40-35

You really don't need to answer....save yourself some time this morning.

You think 6A Plantation who is 6-2 this year and #2160 at Calpreps could handle Gunter and a 1000 or more of the Calpreps 2000?

Who cares?

They lost by 3 touchdowns to U-Lab. They lost by 4 touchdowns to West Monroe.

Add that to their other two losses and the fact that they only beat St. Amant by 7.

They haven't won a single game by more than 13 points.

RedZone once again ignoring an entire body of work and instead focusing on a one game sample size.

Plantation is also better than Woodlawn.

Your point? Other than changing the subject?

Yes, but the main point here is that they would handle Woodlawn.

Anyways, Calpreps has absolutely NO idea where the Tradition Rich Football Hotspots of this nation are located.

I'm going to clue Capreps and their computer.....

it ain't the cornfields of Iowa, Kansas and etc.

It ain't the deserts of Texas and New Mexico.

It ain't the Lobster rich NE states.

and so on!

Well, maybe. Calpreps has the "opinion" Plantation wins by a point vs Woodlawn which is odd being Woodlawn is ranked 600 spots higher at Calpreps. You do that math,,,

neutral field
[2021] Plantation (FL) 31, [2021] Woodlawn (Baton Rouge, LA) 30

Plantation lost almost a month of the season to COVID. Their only other loss was the first game back.

Massey has Plantation ahead of Woodlawn. I don't know what calpreps is doing with them.

I think Massey is better because it doesn't seem have to the built-in assumptions that calpreps does.

Massey does use the previous 2 years of results in "seeding" his rankings for the current year, which he claims eventually go away once there's enough data for the current year. This isn't dissimilar to the claims made by CalPreps, the only difference is in how they establish their initial seed data for the current year. CalPreps is a bit more hands on with the top teams by plugging in leaving and returning talent, etc.

I think people tend to lose sight of the forest through the trees with these computer rankings. They never claim to be perfect. They provide a single ranking for all ~15K schools in the country which no other human service currently provides. In addition to that, they provide an (supposedly - hard to validate unless you can audit the proprietary codebase) objective, emotionless counterpoint to the human rankings out there. This is a good thing, because we all know that humans have their own biases and shortcomings.

If Edna Karr or similar team from Florida, Georgia/anywhere played a game IN Iowa..... as soon as they got off the bus they would cancel that game for whatever reasons. I promise you!

SO, don't pass out  "numbers" to these teams from these states.......cancel these states or something.
