Intel Straight From Marietta...or...The Ides of November

Morning Gurus....

First of all....it ain't pretty.  My sources tell me that the MIGHTY Walton Raiders have it in their mind that the short trip down to Moultrie will be like a "walk in the park".  The general consensus is....if a team can't beat Lowndes...they should just fold up the tents...pump up the basketballs...and make plans for a nice Thanksgiving meal AT HOME.

I reckon it's hard to argue with logic like that.

BUT....

While Colquitt is looking at a "knock'em-down - drag'em out"...we ain't throwing in the towel just yet.  Now I'll be the first to concede...we don't have a Jacurri.......but we do have a Neko...and a Charlie...and a Landen...and a Ny...and a few of their closest friends.  We also got a group of stubborn Blackhats.  They are not All-Everything athletes.  However; they are capable.  At least...sometimes.  In all honesty...the Blackhats are gonna hafta do some HEAVY lifting.  A lot will be riding on their shoulders.  If the Blackhats who played Tift...show up Friday night...Colquitt could very well get the job done.  If the Blackhats who played Lowndes show up Friday night...well...I don't know that the Hawgs can score 60 points.

But back to Walton...

I'm told by reliable sources that the Raiders are in a very bad mood.  They got spanked last Friday night by their cross-town rivals on their OWN field.  And I do mean SPANKED.  Even after that game...they do not think highly of Colquitt and it would seem they're on a mission...from somebody.  They have some tremendous size and speed.  They have some awesome talent.  They are the 2nd best team in Marietta.  Add to all that...they haven't actually gotten over last year when they lost to Colquitt in early December.  They want revenge.

Anyway you cut it...this game SHOULD be one to watch.  Forget the seedings.  Throw them out the window.  This is quite the matchup.  I'll say one last thing on Walton's feelings about making the trip to Moultrie being a "walk in the park".......and that is....

Walton obviously hasn't walked in any of Moultrie's "parks" after sundown.....especially on a Friday night.

So you Raiders keep that in mind....

Let’s look at this logically.

Walton beat lowends, who beat CC, who beat Marietta who beat Walton! Ok. Fuck it. No logic here. But I digress. Styles makes fights. I think Walton may matchup to cc better from a size standpoint than we did. Doesn’t mean a lot other than they may not wear out as quickly from being leaned on by heavier kids all night.

Walton doesn’t have a 16 and I don’t think their WRs are as good as ours either, but they do have two highly skilled QBs who rotate. I think that’s an advantage for cc if it happens Friday. Don’t see how a kid develops a rhythm or team develops continuity.

I think CC wins at home. If Walton goes down same day it may be ugly.

I really liked Bill Walton. One of my favorites from the UCLA dynasties. He played hurt most of his career in the NBA but still left a mark. Mention of Walton triggers his memory.

George Walton HS has some good athletes so we have to worry. We’ve played 10 games and I’ve worried every game. This one won’t be any different. Any team with an offensive pulse we worry about. Especially any team that comes in with a physical offensive line and a good running back.

Marietta is better than they were in August. I don’t think we are. I’m expecting a Camden type of game. Hopefully with the same result. There’s that hope word again.

If you have  followed what I've been saying....Walton matches up against us extremely well.  Colquitt is gonna hafta have a complete game and none of this coming out flat for a half and then trying to ramp it up in the 2nd half.  I was told...point blank...that the Blue Raiders are not gonna be forgiving.  We're gonna hafta EARN the "W".

I'll say this...I don't think many TRUE Packer fans thought we'd win 8 games in the regular season.  Not this year.  We have proved to be a scrappy bunch.  We're probably gonna hafta play our best game of the year...if we wanna win Friday night.  When I asked the Old Man his opine..."Doc" pondered for a minute of two....and then with some "salty" adjectives said..."Rufus, it ain't gonna be ******* pretty.  It ain't gonna be one for the **** history books.  But the Hawgs are gonna find some way to win.  Some Way...Some How".

That's good enough for me on a Wednesday afternoon....

We just need our defensive secondary to look like they wanna be there. If that happens, we should be OK.

Colquitt 38 Walton 28.

Local Bookie has made Colquitt a 10 point favorite. He has even made you and packer 67 a heavy favorite vs anybody from Walton in a Georgia death match in a cage. Go packers.

The bookie needs to know that I will hide behind 67's leg if there is a fight. Now, I ain't sayin that would change the outcome, but, just sayin.
