Bama had to take a thumping before they let bear bring in who he wanted.

Actually the 1970 USC game you are referring to, Alabama already had blacks on the team.  Alabama had blacks on the team in the 1967 spring game. Bryant wanted to do it in the early 60's. Bryant attended many black high school games in the early 60's. At that point in the early 60's he only had 1 title and did have control like later. Bryant would have had to crossed up Wallace, boosters and the university itself plus I think he was scared of violence like at Ole Miss where people got killed.   Sylvester Croom and John Mitchell both early 70s black player said he did it perfectly.

The USC game idiot people in media did not understand what happened.

Plus there were blacks on the basketball team and Bryant was the AD.

looks like Bryce Young is definetley the odds on favorite now

Shouldn’t be close really. There are other players like Stroud who statistically are on par with BY. However, BY shined brightest on the biggest stage when his team needed him the most - end of game against Auburn and yesterday leading the team to victory over heavy favorite Georgia. Those are heisman moments that no other player has had.

Stroud has similar stats with one less game and played in 3 games injured.

He also lacks total cupcakes on his resume like NMSU, Southern Miss and Mercer.

Young has a very slightly higher rating but is 2.5 pts lower on QBR.

Hell, Stroud could have had a 700+ yard game today.

One wins the big games.  The other one doesn't.  Nice try.

I leave the winning games to the team as a whole but IMO what separates the two is whose more important to their team. Nothing about Stroud jumps out to me.  I think many QBs could jump right in and do what he did this year or have a very similar impact at OSU. I don't think the same is true about BY. BY at this level is an all time great IMO,  and Stroud isn't
