So, did no one get Mater Dei-Servite tickets?

It was not humanly* possible to have been on the site any sooner than I and others were. As of 4:00, I had managed to click through to order a ticket, and had provided my credit card info to approve a charge of $16.75...and then it suddenly kicked me out and said the event was sold out. This was at 4:01.

* It is not clear that any humans actually got any tickets via GoFan at 4pm today.

I don’t believe so either. Between us, both schools pretty much took all of them. Maybe a few were sold on gofan.

This was the one thing I was wondering about. But, it seemed as if both schools' supporters were also sent to GoFan today at 4, no? I was not aware of any other avenue to get tickets, though of course I'm not on the "inside" of either school.

Why not play In a bigger stadium 🏟

bergen and Bosco playing at giants stadium and they only gonna have like 6k in attendance

I believe Veteran's holds 11k. Perhaps a 15-20k stadium would be ideal size. I'm not sure what/where the options in that size range were.

Vets was a terrible choice of venue for this.

Why not use the Dignity Center or whatever they call the old HD center in Carson now. Holds about 25k, seems like a better choice.

I think they expected SJB-MD again, so Vet's was kind of neutral for both. Carson was going to be a hike for MD.

Yeah either team could have had a commute when you plan on a neutral site for a LA team and a OC team. Just not a fan of the Vet and don’t love the stands on one side.

The CIF should have had the brains to arrange for temporary stands on the other side of the field like for the first DLS / Poly game. The Vet had a completely different feel when they did that and the whole game atmosphere was electric that night.

I agree with badrouter relative to the SJB expectations but contingencies could have been put in place for the Bowl relative to Servite ...as for this game, there is no home field advantage for either team.

I think the CIF brass said to themselves ‘what is the worst possible venue to have the D1 final?’

I mean seriously… small capacity, seating on one side, limited parking, track. And the icing on the cake is that no tailgating is allowed in the parking lot. 🤦‍♂️🤡

Family and friends had a separate link sent on Monday. Most of the tickets went then. I lucked out and got 3.

As for Vets....why?

1. Cerritos College was the original choice, but they backed out due to covid and haven't had games there all year.

2. The Southern Section says other venues weren't available: Coliseum, Rose Bowl, SoFi, Dignity Health, Mt. SAC, El Camino College. Seating not enough for Mt. SAC and El Camino.

But why not Angel Stadium?

I've never been a big fan of watching games at the Big A, but it's better than Vets by a country mile. And it's not booked. But the CIF came up with some mumbo-jumbo about "honoring their contract", which I'm sure had a buy out clause.

Oh well.

Impressive that ~11k tickets were sold in what amounts to a private sale. As far as I'm concerned, this is a sell out despite not making tickets available to the public.
