Salvation Army's Donors Withdraw Support in Response to Racial 'Wokeness' Initiative

As The Salvation Army launches its Red Kettle Campaign this holiday season, some of its long-time donors are withdrawing their support from the 156-year old charitable organization citing its newly embraced "woke" ideology as the reason.

Of great concern to loyal supporters and faithful Salvationists is the initiative dubbed "Let's Talk About Racism." In a nutshell, its curriculum outlines the Christian church's alleged racial collusion and provides action steps to analyze and combat racism through an "anti-racist" lens while incorporating Critical Race Theory.

Definitions of institutional and systemic racism are included while real or perceived differences in life outcomes ("inequities") are attributable not to individual effort and other circumstances, but to discrimination. Sections address topics including police brutality, health care and Black unemployment linking such topics to "racial inequity."

..."In my estimation, CRT is a Trojan horse taking in well-intentioned Christian enterprises that—because they care about justice and oppose oppression—naively promote the most serious threat to biblical Christianity I have seen in 50 years," wrote Christian apologist and radio talk show host Greg Koukl in a Facebook post earlier this month.

Entitled An Open Letter to The Salvation Army, Koukl prefaces the post by informing TSA that he is terminating his monthly donations and directing them to another organization. Koukl is also the founder and president of the Stand to Reason, a non-profit religious organization that "trains Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed defense for classical Christianity."

"There is a massive number of academics—Black and white, Christian and non-Christian, atheist and theist—who have raised the alarm against the aggressive indoctrination and, frankly, bullying of CRT—not to mention the racial essentialism inherent in the view, the false witness it bears against virtuous people, and the general destruction it continues to wreak on race relations in this country. CRT has set us back 50 years," he continued.

Lots more in the lengthy article...many major donors (and minor donors like me), don't plan on contributing a cent until the Salvation Army apologizes for basically calling us racists

More hit dogs hollering. All this shows is people putting their racism and idiotic political beliefs ahead of their religion.

The Salvation Army is a very...very...solid and respectable organization.

If you are offended...then you're probably guilty as hell.

Lime Sink gives to the SA.  We know that our money will be spent where it's needed.

You Trumptards are really something else....

If you don't wanna donate....well...that definitely sounds normal.

Respectable organization or not...

you can't expect anyone to donate

if they don't agree with the "respectable organization's"

values, goals, or direction their money will be used in.

🙄

PS: and just because someone does not agree with your values...

...does not make them "guilty" of anything.  💩

BTW:  But that does sound like a nice self indictment tho 👍

Most of the larger "corporate" charities are trash,

and if businesses and corps didn't leverage compliance,

they wouldn't be able to skim the sizeable cuts they do...

PS: best bet is a (respectable!!! LOL) local and grassroot charity  for bang for the buck.

🤷‍♂️

  • 3 weeks later...

Salvation Army ditched by donors and volunteers after disastrous release of 'anti-racism' guide

Salvation Army chapters across the country are reporting massive shortages in volunteer hours and toy donations just weeks after the charity distributed (and then pulled) a controversial guide calling on white people to confront their "racist attitudes."

Some 20,000 volunteer hours have gone unfilled for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign this year, which historically represents about 33% of the charity's total yearly donations. The charity has also reported substantial shortages of toy and gift donations in some parts of the country, such as New Jersey, where donations are down 30% across the state.

...a recent Rasmussen poll suggests that the blowback to the group's anti-racism guide damaged its credibility among the public and potential donors.

The poll found that the percentage of respondents who had an unfavorable view of the group increased from 11% to 41% after respondents were informed of the guide and told the charity was "training members in the belief that America is a structurally racist society." And the percentage of respondents who reported having a favorable opinion of the Salvation Army dropped from 81% to 41% after learning of the guide.

Leaders of local Salvation Army chapters have expressed alarm within the last week over volunteer and donation shortages.

The ACLU and SPLC used to be respectable also.

More and more they are just activist arms of the Democratic Party.

And conservatives tend to be more charitable than liberals (who tend to legislate dollars out of other people's pockets).

There are two key changes or updates many such as yourself need to make to your language used:

1) The most radical, most dangerous people/ideas we face today actually don’t give a shit about the Democratic Party. Sure, they hate Republicans and centrists, too. And, Democrats are playing with fire by not thoroughly denouncing radicals like Cori Bush and Ibram Kendi. But, the worst ideas and people are those who seek to burn it ALL down, Democrats included.

2) it is no longer liberals that are a problem. It is the radical leftists that are the problem. This new strain of leftism is overtly ill-liberal. As in, many actively speak out against the rights of the individual, free speech etc. Liberal= good; Leftist=bad. The two are no longer at all the same.

You appear to refer to the looney leftist tail wagging the liberal dog.

In the end it's their house. They let the assholes in and permitted them to take over.

True. But, the stuff that’s abhorrent isn’t liberal. Ron DeSantis is a liberal. Gavin Newsom is beholden to communist radicals, and is not liberal.

I can't believe I missed this gem.

A party whose Presidential nominee was Joe Biden, one of it's largest cities' Mayoral nominees was Eric Adams and it's Senators who are running the agenda are Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin.

Leftists tail wagging the liberal dog!
