First of all, who in the world would ever believe a single word that comes out of pencil-necked geek Adam Schiff, after all of his lies about Russian Collusion?

Secondly, I like how the explanation races right past the fact that they told all the pool watchers that they were done counting for the night, and as soon as they were gone, they pulled out those ballots hidden under the table and what did they do???...Come on, you can say it, everybody knows...that's right, they started counting again.

Third, what the hell difference does it make whether they were suitcases, or "wheeled bins," or motorized trash cans...they contained hidden ballots that DID get counted AFTER the poll watchers had been sent home because there was to be no more counting done that night.

Trump didn't have to tell us the election was stolen...We all have eyes and ears, and we know what we saw.

your eyes and ears have lied to you....just like Trump...you're believing what you WANT to believe...Trump lost by 7 million votes....FACT....there's nothing you can do about it...all of your crazy conspiracies have been disproven....and so says 60  LOST court cases too....you're a lost puppy listening to a lying fool who can't admit he lost....SAD....😪

A GOP senator got caught pretending to be on his phone to avoid questions about the Jan. 6 insurrection

  • A reporter spotted Sen. Ron Johnson pretending to be on his phone to dodge questions.

  • A group was trying to question Johnson after a Jan. 6 committee hearing.

  • The hearing included texts sent by a Johnson aide seemingly seeking to overturn the 2020 election.

A reporter called out Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin for pretending to be on his cellphone in an apparent ploy to dodge questions after a Jan. 6 committee hearing Tuesday.

Johnson was walking away from the Capitol building when reporters tried to ask him questions about evidence the committee presented.

The evidence included text messages sent on January 6, 2021, by his chief of staff, Sean Riley, to an aide to then-Vice President Mike Pence, after the riot at the Capitol disrupted the process of certifying Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election.

In the messages, Riley told the Pence aide, Chris Hodgson, that he wanted to present Pence with a list of fake electors who were prepared to ignore Biden's win and instead vote for Trump. Hodgson dismissed the request.

In the exchange with reporters, including Frank Thorp of NBC News, Johnson claimed he was busy with a call so couldn't take questions about his knowledge of the events.

"How much did you know about what your chief-of-staff was doing with the alternate slates of the electors?" asked Thorp.

"I'm on the phone right now," replied Johnson.

"No you're not. I can see your phone. I can see your screen," said Thorp.

Johnson then put his phone down and addressed their questions, dismissing the evidence as a "non-story."

Johnson claimed he wasn't aware of the messages sent by his aide, calling it a "staff-to-staff exchange."

"I was basically, you know, unaware of it," he said.

The January 6 committee has focused in its public hearings on the figures behind the elaborate and at times chaotic fake-elector scheme.

The plan involved replacing the slate of electors sent by states to reflect the voting there with people who had agreed to ignore the legitimate results and instead vote for Trump in the Electoral College.

A key figure in the scheme was John Eastman, a Republican attorney, who falsely claimed that Pence had the authority to reject the election results on January 6, opening the way for the fake-elector ploy.

Pence disagreed, and after the disruption of the riot the certification continued.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. federal agents delivered grand jury subpoenas on Wednesday to multiple people as part of a probe into efforts by ex-President Donald Trump and his supporters to overturn the result of the 2020 election, the Washington Post and the New York Times reported.

The Justice Department is investigating a plan by Trump and his supporters to submit alternative slates of state electors to reverse President Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election.

The Post and the Times reported subpoenas were handed to Brad Carver, a Georgia Republican Party official, and Thomas Lane, an official who worked on behalf of Trump's campaign in Arizona and New Mexico.

The Post said Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer also received a subpoena. The Times reported that Sean Flynn, a Trump campaign aide in Michigan, was handed a subpoena.

The FBI referred questions about the Post and Times reports to the office of the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, which declined to comment.

Carver and Shafer could not immediately be reached for comment. Shafer's attorney has said previously that his client did not act improperly. Reuters was not able to immediately contact Lane and Flynn.

Jan. 6 inquiry: Gaetz among numerous Republican lawmakers who sought pardons from Trump

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., were among the GOP congressmen who sought pardons from the Trump White House in the wake of the events of Jan. 6, according to new evidence from the panel investigating the Capitol insurrection.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., who led much of Thursday’s hearing, highlighted a Jan. 11 email Brooks sent a White House staffer in which he recommended pardons for himself, Gaetz and the 147 Republican members of Congress “who voted to reject the electoral college vote submissions of Arizona and Pennsylvania.”

Following the hearing, Brooks shared a copy of his email to Molly Michael, Trump’s executive assistant, with reporters.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former special assistant to Trump, said in pre-recorded testimony that Gaetz and Brooks had advocated for a blanket, preemptive pardon for multiple members and that Gaetz was personally pushing for a pardon for himself. Hutchinson also said that Gaetz had been pushing for a pardon “since early December” but she wasn’t sure why.

Hutchinson also said that Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, and Scott Perry, R-Pa., all asked for pardons. She said that while Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., had not contacted Hutchinson personally for a pardon, Hutchinson had “heard that [Greene] had asked the White House Counsel’s Office for a pardon from [deputy counsel Pat Philbin].”

Hutchinson added that Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, had asked her whether the White House was going to pardon members of Congress but hadn’t asked her specifically for one for himself.

In pre-recorded video testimony of his own, former White House senior adviser Eric Herschmann said that Gaetz was seeking a particularly broad pardon.

“The general tone was we may get prosecuted because we were defensive of the president’s positions on these things,” Herschmann said of Gaetz. “The pardon that he was discussing, requesting, was as broad as you could describe — from the beginning of time up until today for any and all things.”

Gaetz is currently under investigation by the Justice Department for allegedly paying for sex with a 17-year-old and violating sex trafficking laws by transporting her across state lines. In April 2021, the New York Times reported that in the final weeks of Trump’s tenure, Gaetz had “privately asked the White House for blanket pre-emptive pardons for himself and unidentified congressional allies for any crimes they may have committed, according to two people told of the discussions.”

Additionally, former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office John McEntee said he knew Gaetz had asked for a pardon.

“He told me he had asked [White House chief of staff Mark Meadows] for a pardon,” McEntee said of Gaetz, adding that he had heard a blanket pardon for anyone involved with Jan. 6 “mentioned.”

When asked if Trump had considered a pardon for family members, McEntee said that Trump “had hinted at a blanket pardon for the Jan. 6 thing for anybody, but I think he had for all the staff and everyone involved. Not with Jan. 6, but just before he left office, I know he had talked about that.”

“The only reason I know to ask for a pardon is because you think you have committed a crime,” Kinzinger said following the video of the testimony.

After losing a Senate primary in Alabama Tuesday night against a Trump-endorsed candidate, Brooks said he was open to testifying in front of the committee. Brooks had exhorted the crowd assembled at the Trump rally on Jan. 6 before attendees marched to the Capitol and rioted.

“Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass,” Brooks said in his speech.

“Now, our ancestors sacrificed their blood, their sweat, their tears, their fortunes and sometimes their lives. ... Are you willing to do the same? My answer is yes. Louder! Are you willing to do what it takes to fight for America?”

Trump feeling fallout of Capitol attack hearings as allies abandon ship

Somewhere in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday afternoon, it seems quite possible that an elderly man was sitting in front of a television howling with rage.

Donald Trump, who spends summers at his Bedminster golf club, is a TV guy, a ratings guy. So the widely televised hearings of the congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol hit him where it hurts.

Related: ‘A dangerous cancer’: fourth hearing reveals how Trump’s big lie destroyed people’s lives

The former US president has reportedly been glued to them – and has not liked what he’s seen. As the panel has presented a carefully crafted case against Trump as the leader of a failed coup, he is said to be livid that there is no one in the room to speak up for him.

Trump “has tuned into every hearing” and has grown increasingly irate – to “the point of about to scream at the TV”, according to a close adviser – with what he views as the “lack of defense by his Capitol Hill allies”, the Washington Post reported.

He is possibly aware that, while the hearings come too late to force his resignation and may or may not cause the justice department to press criminal charges, they seem to be inflicting greater political damage than anyone imagined.

Thursday’s fifth hearing served up more of the same in the Cannon Caucus Room which, somewhat reminiscent of a grand ornate ballroom with curtains closed and lights on, is bringing a gravitas to the nailing of Trump that no trickle of media revelations or tell-all memoirs can.

Photographers crowded around the witnesses just as the panel’s chairman, congressman Bennie Thompson, brought down the gavel, a now ominous sound for Trump, and spoke of “a brazen attempt to use the justice department to advance the president’s personal political agenda”.

Trump’s consternation is likely to have only intensified when Republican Liz Cheney summed up his central role in the conspiracy to overturn the election, then another Republican, Adam Kinzinger, questioned former justice department officials. “Today President Trump’s total disregard for the constitution and his oath will be fully exposed,” Kinzinger said.

Once again, all went smoothly and efficiently. There were no interruptions, objections, points of order or spoiling tactics. And that is said to have made Trump furious. He is especially critical of Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader in the House, for boycotting the committee instead of giving pro-Trump Republicans a voice on it.

Trump told Punchbowl News, “In retrospect, I think it would have been very smart” to put more Republicans on the committee. “The Republicans don’t have a voice. They don’t even have anything to say.”

McCarthy apparently gambled that this would allow Republicans to write off the hearings as illegitimate, partisan and an attempt to distract from more pressing issues such as inflation. But the presence of Cheney, Kinzinger and more than a dozen Republican witnesses have undermined that argument.

Moreover, McCarthy, who wants to be speaker of the House of Representatives, may have forgotten that Trump pays attention to TV, where the hearings are inescapable and will run into next month, prolonging the agony. Even if they are not penetrating the Trump base, they are penetrating Trump himself.

And his formidable political instincts – which served him well against Hillary Clinton and warned him early that Joe Biden posed the biggest threat to his reelection – will now be warning Trump that the January 6 committee’s contribution to the history books poses a threat to his hopes of a 2024 presidential run.

The hearings have painted a portrait of a man detached from reality, peddling paranoid conspiracy theories and putting himself before his country. Kinzinger noted: “He was willing to sacrifice our republic to prolong his presidency. I can imagine no more dishonorable act by a president.” They have also highlighted a callous, cruel streak that saw him make baseless allegations with no regard for how they would ruin individual lives.

A source close to Trump told NBC News: “I look at this and say there is nobody in America who is watching this – even with all that’s going on in the world with Joe Biden – and saying, ‘Donald Trump should be the next president of the United States’. Nobody.’”

Trump’s chequered record of endorsements in this year’s Republican primary elections have also raised questions over whether he still has a tight grip on the “Make America great again” movement. The hearings could turn him into damaged goods and give even Maga diehards some reasons to look for more electable alternatives.

Frank Luntz, a political consultant and pollster, said: “I see people no longer drinking the Kool-Aid. I see people moving away from Trump for the first time. His endorsement matters more than anybody else in the Republican party by far, but he does not control the Republican party anymore. He’s the loudest voice, he has the most influence, but he’s losing control every day.”

The leading challenger to Trump’s throne is Ron DeSantis, the rightwing governor of Florida, who is gaining on him in opinion polls. A poll of 300 likely Republican voters in New Hampshire, the first presidential primary state, found 39% wanted DeSantis to be the next nominee, while 37% favored Trump, within the 5.5% margin of error, according to the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

Pam Roehl, attending last week’s Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Nashville, Tennessee, told the Associated Press that she still supports Trump but increasingly finds herself in the minority among friends who have moved on. “They’re like kind of: ‘Get with the program. Why aren’t you backing DeSantis?’” she was quoted as saying.

If the two men go head-to-head, DeSantis could point to his legislative record in Florida and would be free of the baggage of the 2020 election and the January 6 insurrection. More than three decades younger than Trump, the governor would be seen as the candidate of the future while the former president keeps harping on the past. Trump’s big lie, it transpires, could prove his big liability.

Angry Trump Again Demands The Impossible From Jan. 6 Panel After Riveting Hearing

Mary Papenfuss

Former President Donald Trump’s reaction Thursday to another powerful day of testimony before the House select committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot was to again demand the impossible: evidence of a rigged presidential election.

“The only thing not discussed by the Unselects, in any way, shape, or form, is the irrefutable evidence of massive and totally pervasive ELECTION FRAUD & IRREGULARITIES which took place during the 2020 Presidential Election. They refuse to go there,” he posted.

It wasn’t discussed because it never happened. A litany of testimony from former Department of Justice officials on Thursday — and in earlier sessions — refuted Trump’s “irrefutable” claims.

Trump appears to be ignoring the information in the hearings the same way he ignored responses from his Justice Department, various state officials and U.S. Attorney General William Barr: The claims of a rigged election were baseless. A number of specific claims have been refuted in detail.

Trump insisted on Truth Social that it would be “impossible” for the Jan. 6 hearing to “refute or challenge that which would be put before them. To the Unselects, I ask, LET US PUT ON THE EVIDENCE STATE BY STATE.”

Neither he nor his supporters have offered any such evidence.

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers (R) testified Tuesday that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani asked him to hold up electoral votes because “200,000 illegal immigrants” and more than 5,000 “dead people” voted in the state. Bowers told Giuliani he wanted names and was promised he would get them, he said. Despite repeated requests, he was never given a single name, Bowers testified.

Last week, Trump noted on Truth Social that the “Unselect Committee refuses to debate the Election results, the reason for the massive crowd on January 6th, because they can’t.”

In a separate post Thursday, Trump asked: “What about the massive ballot stuffing shown ... by the highly respected and credible Patriots of Truth (2000 Mules).” He was referring to a discredited “documentary,” which elicited a derisive laugh from the former attorney general during Barr’s testimony.

“I suppose that’s OK by the Unselects? Such lies!” Trump added in his post.

Trump Blasted 'Stupid' Georgia Cowards For Not Tossing Vote For Him, Says Filmmaker

A documentary filmmaker with extraordinary access to Donald Trump before, during and after last year’s insurrection, aired a few more White House scenes from his film on CNN Saturday.

British filmmaker Alex Holder said Trump lambasted “stupid” officials in Georgia for not throwing out votes to help him stay in the Oval Office after the election.

Trump was “furious about the position he found himself in,” the filmmaker, who is cooperating with the Jan. 6 House select committee, told CNN’s Jim Acosta.

Trump told Holder there was “no way that guy” — President Joe Biden —“got 80 million votes.” It could easily be straightened out with “signature verification,” but “stupid” Georgia Republicans Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger were “not brave enough” to cooperate, Trump said, according to Holder.

“This is a moment where the sitting president of the United States is sitting in the White House, looking me in the eye and telling me that he actually won the 2020 election when, in fact, he didn’t,” said Holder, whose docuseries “Unprecedented” will be aired in the future on Discovery+.

Holder also aired scenes of Trump rallies, with journalist Anne Applebaum explaining about his supporters: “They thought because people showed up to their rallies that meant they were popular. The idea that other people might be sitting at home feeling differently about it seems not to have occurred to them.”

Another clip from the film, reported by The New York Times, shows former first daughter Ivanka Trump saying that “every single vote needs to be counted” — which would presumably show her dad as the real winner of the presidential election.

She said this days after then-Attorney General William Barr said there was no evidence of fraud. Barr later told the Jan. 6 committee that Trump’s claims of a rigged election were “bullshit.” Ivanka Trump told the committee that she believed Barr’s assessment.

Another clip shows an off-the-rails Donald Trump Jr. at a rally calling for Trump supporters to “fight” to keep his father in the White House and “make liberals cry.”

A final scene reveals former President Trump talking about the anger of his supporters on Jan. 6.

He never showed any remorse for what happened at the Capitol, Holder told Acosta.

Scenes from the documentary are expected to be played at an upcoming hearing of the House select committee probing the insurrection.

Former Assistant Deputy Attorney General Harry Litman predicted there will be several “treasures” in the film.

Trump is a “notoriously uncensored figure,” Litman told MSNBC’s Alicia Menendez Saturday. “Once he starts talking, he doesn’t stop. Once you wind him up, there is no end to what he will say.”

Former President Donald Trump continued to fundraise after he lost the 2020 election, and poured some $1.3 million of political contributions into his own businesses, his latest federal filings showed.

According to a review by Forbes, between the lost election and the end of 2020, Trump’s campaign committee Donald J. Trump for President handed over $113,000 to Trump enterprises, including two rent payments of $38,000 to Trump Tower Commercial LLC, and two $3,000 checks to Trump Restaurants LLC.

In 2021, Trump changed the name of his campaign committee to the Make America Great Again PAC, and money again poured into Trump enterprises, Forbes reported. Close to $38,000 was paid in rent to the Trump Tower Commercial LLC “every month or so,” and checks for $3,000 were “often” paid to his restaurant business.

From the time of his election loss to the end of February 2022, the PAC had paid $526,000 to his companies, per Forbes’ review of the Federal Election Commission filings.

Other Trump political groups also rained cash on his operations. The joint-fundraising committee Trump Victory, which collected money for the Trump campaign and state-level Republican groups, paid $294,000 to the Trump Hotel Collection.

Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America, spent $213,000 at Trump properties from February 2021 until May 2022.

Some of the money collected from donors was actually solicited for the Official Election Defense Fund to overturn the election, even though that fund apparently didn’t exist, the House select committee investigating last year’s insurrection noted.

“Not only was there the ‘Big Lie,’” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), referring to baseless claims of election fraud during one of the panel’s hearings earlier this month. California. “There was the big rip off.”

In a 2000 interview. Trump boasted to Fortune magazine: “It’s very possible that I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it.”
