The Hildabeast, Slow Joe and his pervert addict son get away with basically everything.  It is a problem when the seat of federal power is dominated by bureaucracies who overwhelmingly favor one party.  Republican president mandates a certain policy? No problem. Lifetime bureaucrats ignore or slow roll it.  Got legal issues or need legal problems to appear for the other side? No problem.  The mainstream press, the social media giants, and the DoJ and FBI have your backs. And they will not pursue or prosecute their own.

The Republicans have a very good chance of controlling Congress and the WH following the '24 elections.  The house cleaning will ("should") be epic. Don't be surprised if you see lots of early retirements and folks heading overseas.

House panel has right to see Trump tax records - federal appeals court

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A House of Representatives committee has the right to see former President Donald Trump's tax returns, a federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday, rejecting his claims that the request is too political to prevail.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled against the former Republican president, saying the panel's request was justified as part of its legislative work.

It said the request did not violate separation of powers principles and was not unconstitutional, and the Biden administration's decision to provide the returns to Congress did not violate Trump's free speech rights.

The appeals court decision brings the years-long battle over making Trump's taxes public closer to an end, and could lead to Trump's financial dealings being revealed before the 2024 presidential election. Trump has teased another potential run for the White House.

The tax ruling came a day after Trump said FBI agents raided his Florida estate and broke into his safe, in what his son acknowledged was part of an investigation into Trump's removal of official presidential records from the White House.

The House Ways and Means Committee said on Tuesday it expected to receive the tax records immediately.

A lawyer for Trump did not immediately return a request for comment on the ruling, or any possible appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Ways and Means Committee sued in 2019 to force disclosure of the tax returns, and the dispute has lingered for 19 months after Trump left office.

The court rejected Trump lawyers' arguments that the records should be withheld because the panel's motive for seeking them was political.

"When the committee makes a request that is within its authority to make, i.e., within Congress's investigative power, the (Treasury) secretary does not have a choice as to whether to provide the information," the court ruling said.

A district judge in December 2021 dismissed a bid by Trump to keep his tax returns from the panel, ruling that Congress' legislative interest outweighed any deference Trump should receive as a former president.

Trump was the first president in 40 years not to release his tax returns which would reveal details of his wealth and the activities of his family company, the Trump Organization.

"While it is possible that Congress may attempt to threaten the sitting president with an invasive request after leaving office, every president takes office knowing that he will be subject to the same laws as all other citizens upon leaving office," the appeals court said. "This is a feature of our democratic republic, not a bug."

Hillary Clinton promotes 'But Her Emails' merch after FBI search of Trump's Mar-a-Lago

A day after the FBI conducted a search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, Hillary Clinton responded on Tuesday with a tweet promoting merchandise emblazoned with the phrase “But Her Emails” — which has become the sardonic response among her supporters to Trump’s many scandals.

Clinton wrote that every hat or T-shirt sold benefits Onward Together, the political action committee she founded following her loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

In a follow-up tweet, the former secretary of state said that the $30 hats quickly sold out but could be preordered for when they are back in stock.

On Monday night, Trump revealed that the FBI executed a search warrant at his private club and residence in south Florida.

According to multiple reports, Monday’s FBI search at Mar-a-Lago was related to an investigation into Trump’s potential mishandling of classified documents.

Trump made Clinton’s allegedly lax security in her email practices a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign, leading chants at his rallies to “lock her up” for the possible crime. But Trump’s own handling of government documents and intelligence has long been scrutinized.

On Monday, Maggie Haberman of the New York Times shared photos of notes thrown in a toilet, which Haberman said were Trump’s and taken at the White House and on an overseas trip. (Flushing those records would violate the Presidential Records Act.)

The Times has previously reported that Trump ordered his chief of staff to grant his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, a top-secret security clearance, overruling concerns of intelligence officials. The congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection is looking into a possible cover-up of White House records from that day. Documents from the National Archives showed a gap in Trump’s phone calls spanning the period when his supporters stormed the Capitol.

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida is currently under siege, raided and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement posted to Truth Social, his social media website on Monday.

The agents, he said, “even broke into my safe!”

In his 340-word statement, Trump bemoaned the “weaponization” of the Justice Department and likened the lawfully executed search warrant to the Watergate break-in.

Trump also referenced Clinton’s controversial use of a private email server as secretary of state.

“Hillary Clinton was allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 E-mails AFTER they were subpoenaed by Congress,” Trump wrote. “Absolutely nothing has happened to hold her accountable.”

There was, however, a federal investigation into Clinton’s use of a private server during the 2016 campaign. That July, then-FBI Director James Comey concluded that Clinton was “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information on a private email server but concluded that “no reasonable prosecutor” would bring criminal charges against her.

Comey’s decision to inform Congress less than two weeks before Election Day that he had reopened the probe — only to reaffirm his conclusion on the eve of the election that she should not face prosecution — was viewed by some as one of the key reasons she lost to Trump.

Three months ago, a federal grand jury began investigating whether Trump had mishandled top-secret documents. That came after the National Archives confirmed that it had retrieved 15 boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago — including records marked as “classified” and even “top secret” — and asked the Justice Department to investigate.

LOL...it's the judge's fault Trump stole items he wasn't supposed to have?!?...speaks volumes how you clowns twist yourself like a pretzel to try and point fingers to justify a crime...😪

You do realize that as president, Trump could declassify anything he wanted to declassify, right? So anything he wanted to to take with him, he would have already declassified, and then...no problem.

There's got to be something else going on.

Trump takes the 5th, refuses to answer questions in probe of his business dealings

Former President Donald Trump did not answer questions from the New York attorney general’s office about his business dealings during a deposition Wednesday, invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

The deposition came as part of an ongoing probe into the former president’s businesses launched by New York Attorney General Letitia James. In a statement, Trump said he "declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution” and attacked James for what he called a “despicable attempt” to bring down his company.

James’s office has been conducting a civil investigation into the Trump Organization for “fraudulent or misleading” business practices, including knowingly providing inaccurate valuations of assets to benefit the company. There had been some speculation that Trump might invoke his Fifth Amendment privileges to avoid discussing his net worth, which critics say he has exaggerated for years.

An October 2018 report in the New York Times found that Trump had participated in a series of tax schemes related to his father’s real estate empire. In 2019, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen discussed these business tactics during testimony with the House Oversight Committee.

Trump had previously said that invoking the Fifth Amendment was a sign of guilt. While campaigning for the presidency in 2016, he noted that some staffers for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had used the Fifth Amendment to avoid answering questions from a House committee investigating the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“So there are five people taking the Fifth Amendment,” Trump said in Council Bluffs, Iowa. “Like you see on the mob, right? You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

Trump noted his previous remarks in his statement Wednesday.

“I once asked, ‘If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?’” he wrote. “Now I know the answer to that question. When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and the Fake News Media, you have no choice.”

This is not the first time Trump has invoked the Fifth Amendment, however. In 1990, he refused to answer 97 questions during a divorce deposition. James told a judge in January that Trump’s son Eric invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 500 times in an October 2020 deposition. The former president's other children Donald Jr. and Ivanka, however, reportedly testified in James’s probe earlier this month and did not invoke the Fifth Amendment.

Trump’s deposition comes two days after FBI agents searched his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. The raid stemmed from an investigation into whether he had removed classified documents from the White House. Trump and his allies have said the FBI’s search of his home was politically motivated, a notion dismissed by former Justice Department officials.

Trump is also still under scrutiny for his role in the violence of Jan. 6, 2021, which is being investigated by the Justice Department and a House committee. Additionally, a Georgia district attorney is investigating his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state, which voted for Joe Biden.

“If there was any question in my mind, the raid of my home, Mar-a-Lago, on Monday by the FBI, just two days prior to this deposition, wiped out any uncertainty,” Trump said in his statement about invoking the Fifth Amendment. “I have absolutely no choice because the current Administration and many prosecutors in this Country have lost all moral and ethical bounds of decency.”

The fact that you actually believe that:

1. those were pictures from Trump's toilet,

2. that Trump flushed documents down, and

3. that if he ever would do that, he wouldn't wait to make sure it all went completely down, leaving no floaters,

makes me laugh at how gullible you really must be. Ridiculous! You really are a blithering idiot! 😂

@Bormio is probably right...The FBI got played. :P
