Graham-Kapowsin further demonstrates the "Mythical" in MNC

None of us had ever heard of them, and they had beaten nobody with any sort of ranking. But, they destroyed everyone they played. Turns out, being an undefeated, unchallenged state champion can mean you're pretty damn good, whether anyone else realizes it or not. I think there are a few Graham-Kapowsins throughout the country most years. And that is the correct way to interpret their win, not just to laugh at Collins Hill. We can't possibly know all there is to know about all of the teams throughout the country. And, contrary to common belief, a team doesn't have to schedule Mater Dei or St. John Bosco to be really good. GK should be top 15 in the country at worst.

Or CH was just badly overrated and shouldn’t have been in the top 25 let alone top 5

CH was an undefeated, mostly unchallenged large class state champion from power state Georgia. It is not possible for them to not be an excellent *high school* football team on a national level. So, your premise is dismissed. They remain a top 25 team nationally in sane rankings lists.

They did roll fairly easily on "challenged" Milton in their state championship game. I think the score was 24 to 8.

I really don't get the argument that if a pollster had Collins Hill in their top ten they were a "lazy poll" for not peeling the onion back and seeing they were unchallenged or not properly vetted.

Seems to me, demanding a vetting makes you more lazy than the others as a pollster.

It's clearly more difficult to identify who is better than who when they don't play.

Anyway, it's not silly to think Georgia is a top 5 power state, and then to decide from that, their top team likely fits easily into the top 5 to 10 in the country. It's not lazy either. It's common sense application and a pretty logical assumption.

Having said that, losing to GK shouldn't take away from that common sense application but should most likely elevate GK moreso than drop CH.

I wonder how many other teams this Washington team may have slipped up on in this event?

...quite a few I would imagine.

Good thing the 3A Florida team played the 3-loss Arizona team...

I'm ok with Top 10 based on them filling the place holder for winning the Ga 7a.   It would have been more compelling if they scheduled a Top 5 Fla team this year.

I'm sure some polls will drop them out of the Top 10.  Then you will be calling those polls lazy.

Hawg probably wont...

I wont...

I doubt any Georgia poster will...

The only one calling  em Lazy is you....

Let's not forget unvetted in spite of steamrolling a good Mill Creek and Milton...

I will admit I don't think CH is top 5.

Never did...

I dont think they're the best team in Georgia...

Been saying  that all season

But yall are inconsistent in your ranking criteria and standards...

Its silly I know but it is what most the country who may be interested in such things looks at, them and USA Today..  GK wasn't even in the top 25 on CP until after this game. Thats the deal with computer rankings you have to wait until all the games get played for it to matter.. mid season its worthless

Calpreps is the ultimate self-fulfilling prophecy. As long as you've scheduled certain favorites, you're ensured of a decent ranking. To have San Diego Cathedral ranked #13 in the COUNTRY, after they've been blown out twice by teams who didn't win championships, and not having a single win over any sort of special team, is enough to rest the case on.

Who in Georgia is better? Why?

Which doesn’t exclude them from being highly overrated and only someone with limited thought process would fail to acknowledge that

It depends on the context. If a claim is made that they're ready to beat Mater Dei or STA, yes, they are overrated. If the claim is that they are a top 25 team nationally, it is a straightforward factual claim. An undefeated, mostly unchallenged 7A state champ from Georgia is- by definition - a top 25 team nationally.

While I would agree they are top 25 this year nothing is factual about any team unless determined on the field against other supposed top teams.Since that is impossible it can’t proven factual.Since Georgia top team lost to Washington top team who’s to say that Washington doesn’t have better football than Georgia.
