HooverOutlaw
This was the school USA today had #5 before losing to Hoover in the state game. Did not score in state title game until under 2 minutes left. But anyway lost 10 starters on defense 9 on offense. Looks to be another flash in the pan school. They looked good in 7 on 7s so will wait and see.
HooverOutlaw
Prattville at 1 time. Spanish Fort, Not really any others . When you have been to the state title game 15 of the last 17 winning 10 of those in the top class. Like Ric Flair said to be the man you gotta beat the man. Since 2000 we have been the man in Alabama. You Think Hewitt is a power house? Hewitt's defense is terrible. We have made our living outta beating upstarts like Hewitt, Clay , and many others. We got more hardware in our trophy cases than ACE or Lowes have. Our winning % vs Alabama teams since 2000 is almost 95. Yankee boy you know any Bama teams who can top that? Like a guy told me after we beat Daphne in the state finals 56-14. There goes greatness as the team pulled away for a night of celebration. The answer to the question is NO. We should change the state name to Hoover. 1

AL hsfb now equals NV hsfb. Nice going. He doesn't care. Go Hoover go lol
ECHS05
McGill was pretty good in 2015 also. They won 7A that year after Hoover lost to Spain Park twice.

Adam Kurkjian
How did Hoover get to that point? I'm not a educated on that state, so what exactly did the program/community/school/youth systems etc. do to put itself above everyone else like that? I'm always curious to see how programs do that, especially public schools.

I'm always curious to see how programs do that, especially public schools. In 1994 long time Bucs coach Bob Finley shockingly died about 4 weeks before the 1994 season. He won 2 state titles . HOOVER was in population boom starting in the early 90's. In 94 an assistant filled in as temp. HC. In 1995 new Coach Gann won 11 made it to 3rd round. We thought the program was heading in the right direction. The next few years 96-98 we were awful 3-7 type years. But yet remember population was growing like crazy in Hoover. We had 2800 or so kids but only 50 out for football. It was in the gutter. Plus our biggest rival Vestavia owned us at the time. No workout program it was a joke kids not in shape no discipline. We had kids no showing what little summer workouts there was. Etc Etc. In 1999 Rush Propst was hired. He changed everything it was run like a college program. In his 2nd year he won state going 14-1. Rush controlled everything he changed the youth program made every team run the spread. Got parents on board. Booster club raised money to new levels. He brought and energy to Hoover like we had never seen. In 2 years we went from the biggest joke to the best program in the state. We had all the ingredients starting in about the mid 90's but it took Rush to put it all together.
Adam Kurkjian
That's very interesting. I think that's a lot of stuff that sometimes people overlook when they talk about a high school coach. The part about getting the youth programs all on the same page is very key. You want the kids to know the terminology and basics before they get to HS so once they get there the coach can install more complex stuff. how young do they start lifting? Middle school? Omaha Vol
If McGill-Toolen lost that many starters they won't be able to challenge Hoover. Hewitt-Trussville can't stop any offense. How about Phenix City Central? They are usually pretty decent. How do they look this year? And what about Ramsay and Opelika?
HooverOutlaw
PC Central might win the South. If Park Crossing can step up on defense they could be a player in 6A. Opelika will be solid.

Ramsay and Opelika will run 6A. 7A will come down to Hoover & Central. Dont think Central is going to seriously challenge Hoover though. Just 1 Georgians opinion on Alabama. I think they will have a very good offense wait and see on defense. They are well coached in freeman.
