For all the likes of Germany squeal about how bad Putin is, you'd never know it looking at their desire to be able to defend themselves (or anyone else) from him. Germany is by far the largest country in NATO not named "USA". This is the utter embarrassment they call a military: Per globalfirepower.com, Germany tank strength ranks globally at #55. Right between Chile and Ecuador. They have one usable main battle tank for every 5-10 miles of their eastern border. They couldn't stop an assault by the Girls Scouts with that. Oh, and they have an economy with a $4 trillion GDP. They spend less than the NATO guideline for percent of GDP AND less than the NATO guideline for percent of spending on actual equipment.
