PrepGridiron.com wants to put together a reader poll to capture the knowledge of the posters and regular contributors of this board. The following will be the guidelines for the poll.

Qualifications:

  • In order to vote, a voter must have 50 reputation points OR have been a PrepGridiron.com member for a minimum of 6 months;
  • Eligible voters must vote weekly to maintain vote; 1 missed vote results in a warning; a second missed vote disqualifies the voter for the remainder of the season
  • If a Regional Voter (see below) determines that a voters rankings are far outside the range of other voters in the region, the Regional Voter shall have the ability to warn the voter. If, after being warned, the Regional Voter still feels the voter deviates greatly from the other voters, the Regional Voter shall submit the voter to the group of Regional Voters and if there is greater than a majority vote, then the voter will lose his voting privileges for the remainder of the season.
  • To opt-in to the voting, you must by Monday, 8/14 add your member name and state on the following Google Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xWVYuQ5wqMaYTD4ExUGKe5KMqyDlMrl_VHzdMKyQgAk/edit?usp=sharing

Regions:

  • Each voter will vote according to the region in which they currently reside.
  • There will be 5 regions: West (CA, OR, WA, NV, UT, ID, CO, WY, MT, HI, AK) Southwest (TX, AZ, NM, OK), Southeast (LA, AR, FL, GA, NC, SC, MS, AL, TN, KY, WV), Midwest (KS, MO, NE, ND, SD, MN, IA, MO, IL, IN, OH, MI, WI) and Northeast (NJ, PA, CT, RI, MA, NH, NY, VT, ME, VA, MD, DE)

Voting Mechanics:

  • At the beginning of the season, each voter will vote to elect a Regional Voter; this Regional Voter will cast the primary vote for the region.
  • A voter can nominate anyone for the Regional Voter (including themselves); after submission of all nominations, a ballot will be cast for the top 5 individuals receiving nominations with the winner receiving the most votes becoming the Regional Voter.
  • Once elected, Regional Voters can be ousted by a petition and vote of at least 75% of the region voters voting for the removal. If removed, the Regional Voter is elected in the same process as originally elected.
  • Once each Regional Voter is selected, every voter submits a list of their top 25 teams in the country (in order) to their Regional Voter (note: Regional Voters also get their own vote). Votes must be submitted by Wednesday, August 23rd in the preseason and by EOD Monday during each week in the season. Every vote will be tallied up with Number 1 receiving 25 pts, Number 2 receiving 24 pts, and so on. The teams will then be slotted based on the number of points they received.
  • The regional voter can submit the votes as elected by the individual region voters or can make changes as s/he sees fit.
  • For full transparency, region voters will get to see both the region voter’s results and the submitted results.
  • Each regional voter shall submit their final regional poll to the other regional voters. One regional voter will be elected to tally up and submit the vote for publishing.
  • In the event, there is a tie between two or more teams, the regional voter or elected member shall decide which team will be ranked the higher of the two.

For some of us, the region in which we currently reside is not identical to the region whose HSFB we follow.

For example, I currently resides in the Midwest, but I am what is called a DLS homer and I spend Friday nights streaming DLS football games.

Is it best to divide would-be voters by the region in which they currently reside?

Drummer is in FL, but follows NJ

Conch in Ga but OH fan

Jimbo in AZ but NJ fan

MJD in Cali but NJ fan

Concha and Drummer live in the states with the best football and follow weaker states football far heavier than the great football where they live. O.o

MJD lives in a state that has it's ups and downs in football but could be considered a third behind Georgia and Florida yet he follows a state that might be lucky to be a top ten state.

Jimbo... Well there's just no accounting for taste. AZ and NJ likely tied in HSFB so he's probably the least confused out of the group. He could pick either or and see the same type of poor quality ball.
