I feel like male has given trinity* a run for their money in games more so than X.

But I could be mistaken ....

last year St. X lost to trinity 24-14

2015 it was 34-7

2014 it was 9-3

male lost to trinity

38-31 in 2014

2015 they beat trinity 20-19

2016 lost 37-34

I guess your right

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has too many classes...They should have stayed at Four Classes...Political Correctness created Six Classes...Lets give out two more trophies to teams that other wise would not have a chance of winning one in a four class system!!! The 1A and 2A classes should be combined, as well as the 3A and 4A classes!!!

There are main-stays at all class levels now because of the added classes, and several classic match-ups between teams (Beechwood-Mayfield), were ruined because of adding the two extra classes and moving teams up or down...In this case, Mayfield was moved up a class!!! This small school rivalry was once like Trinity-St. Xavier...With each winning multiple titles!!!

Only Trinity has more State Titles (24), than Highlands (23)...Mayfield has like 14, and Beechwood has like 11...St Xavier has 11, Male has 8, Danville, the county seat in Boyle County, has 10 State Titles, and Boyle County, which is like 4 miles away has 7 State Titles.

Realistically, there are only about 5-8 schools in class 1A thru 5A, that can be consistently counted on to contend for a State Title...Trinity in 6A is on a different level than the other schools...Yet, the other schools in 6A do have a fair chance to upend Trinity on a yearly basis...Male, being the most likely!!!

The main players in each class since the expansion to six class are:

1A - Beechwood, KY Country Day, Pikeville, Paintsville and Louisville Holy Cross.

2A - Mayfield, Danville, Newport Central Catholic, Louisville Christian, De Sales and Lexington Christian.

3A - Boyle County, Belfry, Corbin, Central and Lexington Catholic.

4A - John Hardin, E-Town, Johnson Central, Franklin Simpson, Hopkinsville, Meade County, Shelby County and Collins.

5A - Highlands, Bowling Green, Covington Catholic, Pulaski County and Christian County.

6A - Trinity, St. Xavier, Male, Scott County, Simon Kenton, Ryle and DuPont Manual.
