TheRealCAJ
Just now, westbankeagle said: I mean seriously, 2 full quarters against Covington and you only scored 7? Do you realize how good the WRs and RBs are for Curtis this year? And it certainly wasn't the defense that didn't do their job. What do you think that leaves? vs Covington in 2 quarters John Curtis: 292 yards of total offense: 249 rushing; 43 passing
westbankeagle
Where are the points? About a third of those yards if not more were the long drive at the end of the second quarter after the turnover. You think Rummel and Evangel aren't better conditioned than Covington? TheRealCAJ
Curtis also held Covington's stud RB Devin Brumfield (Texas Tech commit) to 46 yds in 2 quarters. Rushing: Devin Brumfield, 12-46. Covington: 113 yards of total offense: 61 rushing; 52 passing

You should know JT wants execution more than points in Scrimmages and Jamborees....a real game and Curtis beats Covington 7-0 might raise a flag, but Covington isn't exactly a chump this year. westbankeagle
I never said the defense wasn't going to be strong, not sure what that has to do with it. Curtis played their best guys all 2 quarters. You're kidding yourself if you think they weren't trying to score.
Reb72
so what are your thoughts on the Ehret/WM game now with all the goings on... neither team will have their Head Coach. This will be the 1st time since 1988 that West Monroe will have neither Shows nor Arledge leading the team. Add in WM's losses to the defense; Hutchinson, Swanner nor George will play and that leaves WM very young on that side of the ball. WM also lost their kicker to injury... I'm thinking our only chance is to outscore our opponents at this point, what say you guys?
Lurker
Evangel returns starters at every position and I believe 9 total on defense from last season. Curtis simply does not match up with the Evangel front 7 again this season. On offense, Evangel lost starters: QB, RT, WR/TE from the starters in the Curtis game. Although those three were players and are playing on Saturday's, they return enough to still put up points and will get better as the year progresses and the OL gels and QB (stud potential) gets playing time under his belt. You cannot simply pound the ball on Evangel this year. Better be able to spread it out and have some deep threats to open the running lanes. Graysons DL is pretty big , and their LBs are fast & athletic... led by the #1 junior OLB nationally 5*, Owen Pappoe.. who was and still is the only freshman ever to be invited to The Opening. And 4* Kevin Harris, whos ranked as the #8 OLB Nationally.

Ehret has the players to pull it off though. It's a good test for WM.

Lurker
My Evangel years are over for now but thanks. Just giving input as I see it. Son is off to college so I have about 11 years before next son reaches high school (almost 18 years apart in age).
NOLAHSFB
Keep sleeping on the Curtis offense. The OL is more than equipped with "5A" guys as you put it. The Curtis offense in the Jamboree was to try out new looks. There were a couple of overthrown passes that would have been touchdowns and a dropped pass that would have been a TD, not to mention a missed FG. When they ran their normal offense, TD. The QB play will be better this season as he settles and will open up the run game. Teams will find out pretty soon that this Curtis team can throw and they can't stack the box like days of old.

TheRealCAJ
Tomorrow night's game between Curtis and Landry-Walker will be at Behrman Park/Stadium on the West Bank (NOLA). Second oldest stadium in NOLA. Constructed in 1938. Lots of past NFL players have played at this stadium, too many to list. Stadium holds 5,000, but there will be close to 6,000 jammed in. Should be a great atmosphere and finally some Louisiana football. We don't have much new stuff in NOLA..

TheRealCAJ
Riverside vs Southern Lab has been moved to tonight. That should be a good game.
