Instacart delivery shot at, wrong address

Top off the week in style.

Glad there were no injuries… and while we await a name and demographic of the shooter in this ongoing investigation, the gun didn’t shoot itself… but hey, what if there was no gun?  Sharp pencils get tossed instead?  Likely a curse or a middle finger at the worst.  Oh no, gun available and guns don’t shoot themselves!

This angry fuckup lost his cool and once again a person’s mood swing dictated gun use.

Some days you’re happy and some days you’re sad/mad… have a hand gun around the house and play spin the mood swing.  You landed on dumbfuckery.

Annual usage of guns for defensive purposes range as high as into the millions, with low estimates generally in the hundreds of thousands.

Does the gun control crowd ever think about that?

Do you think that the person shooting at instacart delivery drivers would say they were shooting in self defense?  It is probably true that many of those surveyed did in fact use guns in self defense but it is also probably true that some of those people were not in danger.  Also, who would admit they used their gun when it wasn't self defense?

I bring it up because we live in a nation creeping up to 350M people and stupid people exist and stupid shit happens.

Cable news, smart phones and social media allow this stuff to be broadcast widely and repeatedly at a moments' notice.  Things that were once local are now national.  Perceptions change.  Look at police killings of unarmed black Americans.  They are, in fact, quite rare. But the media and pols drill it into the public such that huge numbers of people think that an actual number of two or three dozen in a year is in their minds in the hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands.

How often do you hear pols and the media mention defensive gun usage, either examples or statistics? Also, it may depend on the study, but guns don't have to be shot to be used defensively. A citizen can just show they have a gun and a bad guy (if he is smart) will back off.

Nobody thinks the number of blacks being killed by cops is in the hundreds of thousands. Nobody thinks the numbers are anymore that they actually are.

That is your talking point.

The fact that it happens once is too many.

Dumbass,

I didn't say it was in the hundreds of thousands.

And most people DO think it's more than it really its.

You are fucking ignorant and make this sight more ignorant and stupid every time you post.

AgreeAnd water is wet.

This is the kind of insight that is crucial to understanding and cultivating.  A simple but fundamental fact is that everything changes when perceptions change.  There is a lot to say on this subject, but I think you follow.

How often do you hear pols and the media mention defensive gun usage, either examples or statistics? Also, it may depend on the study, but guns don't have to be shot to be used defensively. A citizen can just show they have a gun and a bad guy (if he is smart) will back off.

Were back to this unfortunate fact.  Too many people are not smart enough, or more importantly, people who act on their emotions and have no impulse control.  No tools in the toolbox to effectively deal with situations.  Or they are just dumb.

Are these your words? We are going with semantics, given the need for total transparency in today's world.

"But the media and pols drill it into the public such that huge numbers of people think that an actual number of two or three dozen in a year is in their minds in the hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands."

What the difference between insinuating that it happens 10's of thousands of times versus hundreds of thousands of times?

Your inability to accept documented evidence, of any given truth that runs contrary to your ideals, frightens you no doubt.

Only those that subscribe to the same Idiocracy as yourself, would tend to lean in that direction.

Well if something happens 99,999 times (still in the tens of thousands) vs something happening 100,000 times, the difference is one.  On the other hand compare 99,999 to 999,999 (still in the hundreds of thousands, the difference is 900,000.  Thus it could mean very little, or very much.    People tend to work numbers to their advantage, but then I’m preaching to the choir as regards that.
