More Guns Do Not Stop More Crimes, Evidence Shows

Depends on the home, I would think. I didn't read the article (it's past my bedtime), but I'll bet this one is horror stories about suicides, children getting their hands on their parent's guns, etc.

In my case, I picked up a home defense shotgun during the BLM rioting and harassments. Our children are all grown up and moved away (the closest one is 750 miles away), and my wife cant even lift the gun much less use it on me. 😉

Now we both feel secure, and less stress means a healthier life, No?

Where I live, home invasions, and even burglaries are uncommon, because so many people do own guns. Crime around here is mostly automobile break-ins. Our doors are triple-locked, (ex-Californian) our cars are in the garage, we have more than one security system, and our back yard is fenced in with locked gates.

The 12 gauge was the icing on the cake. My home is safer with that shotgun (four shells in the magazine, none in the chamber).

Have a look when you’re awake and refreshed.   The source is highly credible.

Whatever the reason for purchasing, you and your wife discussed it and you both feel more comfortable with the shotgun in your home.  That’s a in my book.  I owned Ruger shares for nearly 2 years.

Now we both feel secure, and less stress means a healthier life, No?

Indeed.
As much as I dig statistics and data crunching, there are times that decisions are based on personal opinion, whether it be a choice for home safety or a car or home purchase, job choice based not necessarily on income first etc.

Let’s pray you never have to say to an intruder, “say hello to my little friend”  :)

All I know is... At this point, you should probably start preparing to change mentalities. Like, still shake hands and whatever you do, but, do not sit with your back to an entrance or a window. Be mentally prepared to kill anyone you meet or that comes through the door or walks by the window.

I'd say it's gonna be like the wild west again, but, it could never. Those days there was such a small population and guns were not auto or semi auto and didn't have capacity like we have today. So, a single gunman on the old spaghettie westerns might be a hero for killing 6 crooks. Today in a crowd of 1k a single gunman could take out several hundred.

My hero!

Anyway, real talk. Start changing your mindset. I'm full alert around open carry dumbasses automatically, but, now you have to start being full alert at every person entering the building you are in. Be prepared to slap leather or duck. Whichever. This is pretty much where we are.

Not to mention what I think is a major factor that will contribute......a whole new group has guns now. In the old days, everyone was not armed.

Today, there is a gun for every man, woman and child, with some left over.

There are many studies out there that conclude that SDGUs number in the hundreds of thousands and potentially into the millions annually.  As an FYI, you don't need to shoot a gun to defend yourself. Showing you have a gun is often all that is needed.

Easy for you to say… you carry loaded guns 24/7.  😂

Don’t be a stranger on this side… should be an interesting week.

If we go back to Grease and Happy “Days” with fantasy intervention (epic confrontation between Tom Hanks Karate character and Fonzie 😊), you’ll be fine.

I applaud you on NOT purchasing a military weapon.  A shotgun is a perfectly reasonable self defense weapon and IMO all that you would ever need.

What "military weapon" was he possibly going to buy?

An AR-15? No. Not a military weapon.

It's a small caliber semi-automatic sporting rifle. There are places in the country that don't allow deer hunting with it because it isn't powerful enough.

@Slotback Right maybe prayer helped the two TX politicians see the light?  It’s a start.

The guy who invented it thought it was for the military.

Either way it is meant to kill human beings in large numbers.  Call it insane or call it whatever you want.  The result is the same.

Anybody who goes deer hunting with it is a complete pussy and a POS because that is not hunting.

Never ceases to amaze me when people who went to Catholic school do not understand the concept that violence can't be solved by more violence.  Didn't Jesus teach this?  That which you fight against you strengthen.  What you resist persist.  It's a fundamental law.  A law like Karma is or cause and effect.

The model of the basic rifle that was adopted for military use had automatic fire capability.

I'm not sure what using it to hunt deer with has to do with being a pussy.  Most hunters use much more powerful guns like 308s if they are going after something the size of a grown deer.  A clean kill from an AR-15 actually requires more skill.

And violence can be solved with more violence. Example: someone violently entering my home to do violence to my family would be stopped by violence from me and/or one of my sons.  Jesus has no problem with self-defense.

I keep pointing out that if you want to reduce murder rates in this country, the places where they are concentrated are easy to find.  But since it is politically inconvenient, a certain political party does all it can do to ignore it, cover it up and jazz hands it. You did a great job earlier as a living example.

Not skill when you can fire 100 rounds and spray everything in an area.  How many shots do hunters usually get at a buck before it takes off and you have to track it again or wait until next year for that one?  Couple?  Not much I know that.

Show me where Jesus was violent towards another?  Overturning tables does not count.  You telling me that if Jesus was alive today, he would be ok with this shit?  Bullshit.  Republican Jesus maybe but not the guy that lived 2K years ago.

HOW? Cover up what?   You are the one with jazz hands.  I ask a specific question and you can't answer it.

1) This why I can't take you people seriously. The vast majority of hunters don't "spray" bullets. In fact, they can't. It's a semi-automatic weapon. You either hit the deer quickly or it's gone. And if you fire quickly your accuracy goes down the toilet. To fire a hundred rounds you are looking at firing into your fourth full mag. Most deer hunters use larger caliber bolt actions. In some states you can't even hunt a deer with an AR-15. Why? It's not considered powerful enough to reliably ensure a one shot humane kill. It is normally used to hunt varmints and smaller game.

2) So I'm supposed to tell you when Jesus was violent but can't use the example where he was violent. 🤡

3) There are plenty of policies I'd enact if I were in charge to improve the schools, law enforcement...  It's just useless listing them. Why? Because it will be a long time before Dems lose control of most of our inner cities.  You shit yourself in rage when I point out the death and failure in our inner cities and do just what a good liberal does.  You rage at the other guy rather than asking the fucking asshats you vote for why things are so shitty after 60, 80, 100 years with them in control.
