What happened to the NJ big dogs?

Are they all down at once? I've never been a fan of private schools just loading up on talent, but at least in NJ you knew most of the state's talent was concentrated in a handful of teams that at least all played each other and always had the nads to go out of state and show pretty well.

Seems like they are WAY down by their standards. Bosco, Bergen, SJR, SPP,  Paramus, all have losses (some of them pretty bad) and we're not even 1/2 way through the season?

too much parity has taken it all down. When all of the talent was at 1 or 2 teams you had a nice showing OOS and nationally. Now with 6 teams and talent going everywhere teams are not as complete. You can also argue different leadership philosophies have hurt different schools which has been stated on this board several times. SPP is still doing fine. They are probably near the top if not the top in terms of talent this year for NJ. They have 3 ND commits on defense. Also NJ OOS competition has been very good. DBP combined opp record is 8-3

Please STOP using that parity word.  Such a Cop Out.

They are just not good because they are slacking off. They draw from a population of 15 million people. The football kids are still there, but alot are not playing football anymore for a variety of reasons.

Starting with The youth programs are no developing kids as well as the youth programs in other areas.

The football talent level in North NJ is not as good or deep as in other areas of the country

Its not a cop out. its the absolute truth. When DBP was going around beating the likes of Manatee DLS STA etc they had the talent and everyone else basically bowed down in front of them. After Peppers left DBP and took the talent to PC PC emerged and the rest is history. BC was a load of talent in the 90s and early 200s. Then DBP took over. Now you have a few kids on each team. Also yes your right in the fact that the demographics are certainly changing

Sorry..It's a cop out.  I would submit you could put togethe an all star team of players from the BNU and they still would not be Tier 1

Possibly, but the reason is not PARITY

Ok whatever you believe Sammy. As teams like DBP and such are on the decline imo teams like SPP are going to get better. Kids wont have to leave the SPP area to go to DBP and such. They should stay there. I expect SPP to get better and better over the next couple of years. Like i said some have suggested philosophical changes at the top of the schools. I dont personally know the answer. I just dont believe NJ will be what it was only a few years back.

Ten kids that would have normally went to Bosco that are now going to other schools is not a reason to claim parity.

Bosco is losing those kids because of reasons about Bosco.  I've seen it happen to schools in my area.   Amat, Loyola, St. Paul, Los Alamitos, even Poly.

I don't hear anyone from Poly saying the reason they dropped off the past few years was because of Parity.  It was because they made a coaching change which affected the dynamics of kids going else where (SJB, Narbonne etc)

Bosco was declining tho under Toal so it wasnt like now because of teel DBP is going from 10-1 11-0 to multiple losses.

Do 15 million kids play football? Of course not. The bottom line is you are a year behind me sammy. I said last year was a down year in NJ and this year is really down so far. I also told you in the spring that there was no way BC should be ranked anywhere near the top 10 let alone the top 25. With that said I think you are slowly getting into having maybe one or 2 good teams in NJ and the rest mediocre to decent. Parity usually means not that good. The OOS record really shows it.

Rather, just maybe NJ cycle of success has ended.. Certainly, Calf was an overrated debacle for years, but now appears to have some  very good teams..Many relish in NJ football  downfall, but really, not that big of a deal..Why major in minor things and when Bosco was on top it was great.. For now it's SJB, MD, IMG, SFA and a couple others..

Not that big of a deal??
