A legend-Jim Brown passes away

I think Jim Brown is in the discussion of best NFL player ever, if not the best. He could have dominated in any era.

Took this about 20 years ago on game day at a Cleveland weekend when they brought back players to celebrate 50 years since the '54 and '55 championship seaons.

Had a drink the night before the game in a team hotel bar with Brown and Terry Robiskie. We were the only 3 in the bar. Brown is the only person I ever asked for an autograph, and gave the signed Brownie hat to my son.

I remember standing next to Nick Saban, Ricky Williams, and Jason Taylor in the tunnel before the Browns beat the Dolphins that Sunday.

The boldfaced mention is often used as a reference to the greats… and indeed Jim Brown would be the perfect Webster’s dictionary example of a great in any era, including futuristic bionic robotic enhancements in the centuries to come. :)

Dad always brought up JB when we watched the 70’s and on greats together.  Brown’s highlights are a nuclear bomb.  He didn’t need finesse, he had track speed with a physical presence.

JB also “dated” Racquel Welch.
 🎤 drop.

Great flick also he was in, The Dirty Dozen.

In the picture with Brown is my late dad, who played on those Cleveland teams, and I was able to join for that weekend honoring the former champions.

I like the story that one of the defensive guys told.

“ he broke my steel reinforced face mask, broke my nose, split my lip and knocked the enamel off my teeth, all in one play!”

He was if not one of the toughest to ever play the game.

ten time letterman at Syracuse in football, lacrosse, basketball & track.

he competed in the Olympics.

He did everything he wanted to do & did it well😀

I had a strong feeling it was, but I promised secrecy on the board. :)

Must have been a huge thrill for your dad and the fam.
