I wouldn't consider CalPreps ratings "official" until they release their national projections - which typically happens on Monday evenings. I generally wait until Tuesday morning just to be safe. It can take some time for them to get all of the the scores in and for the regression to converge.

@dntn31 I've been following CalPreps since 2003 when they went National. Prior to 2017, they re-calculated all of their rankings and as you can see from the first attachment, I have all of their Polls back to 2003, including the originals. The second attachment shows that their recalculations resulted in 6 new champions - five #2's and one #3.

Yep, I have all of that information as well (same goes for every other poll out there - going back to 1982). I only have weekly snapshots of CalPreps going back to 2016.

Every poll is human biased Red. 

Have a look at the board’s Pickem challenge.  CP isn’t exactly hurting.  Nor is Massey.  

The flaw in those algorithms now is that states finish playoffs at different dates.  CP and Massey are a final season review source. 

Does one need to pick games at a high pct as a resume prerequisite for a hobby fun novelty experience and make a poll?   No, but it doesn’t exactly hurt, does it?  

DJ, like all of us, was biased to some teams and if I recall correctly, he wasn’t lights out in picking winners back in the day… but overall I thought his top 100 was solid.   The best part was that he answered most questions every week re: his rankings.  He explained his pov, which was cool.

@dntn31 With some sites not able to go to anymore, I chose to copy and paste and so have some that are no longer able to find like The Tony Poll and Dick Butkis Football Network. That is awesome you having all of those links. I have gone back in excel to 1904 with "popular acclaim" through to 1927 with the National Sports News Service on through USA Today in 1982, National Prep Poll in 1987, etc., etc.

The attached, though probably impossible to read, is a screenshot of my massive spreadsheet showing Every National Champion and notes about Poll mergers (ex - In 2008, Student Sports merged with ESPN and RISE and released as ESPN / RISE. Rivals resurrected their Poll.)

Most of the links I have are archive links (I keep a list of both archive and non-archive links when I can), that way the sources are accessible even though the site is no longer around.

I have the (conflicting) NSNS data as well, but since I only really care about "compilations" I don't really care about anything prior to 1982.
