One thing not readily available (too dangerous) is fireworks. Kids lost fingers and dogs were annoyed. These used to be legal here years ago, but we can no longer buy fireworks legally in Colorado. Sure, you can get them on the black market, but there are far, far fewer now on the streets (even though we can drive a couple hours to Wyoming and get them -- too big of a hassle). Probably for the better. Maybe I should just get one of those AR-15 assault rifles (how dare I call an AR-15 an assault rifle, for goodness sake? they are just used for plinking my empty beer cans), because Black Cats have been banned (they even say DO NOT HOLD, but some people do...not sure they've been responsible for mass killings though):

Just ban all guns and take from all Americans. That's the answer for the left. See how that works.

Nope, not all guns. Don't get frustrated and start throwing out absolutes like that. A little sensible talk among lawmakers from all parties (less the gun lobby involvement) could be very productive. Should we take away vans because some sick fuck drove thru a crowd of people? How about cigarette's they have killed million's. Frigging people are amazing. Don't blame all Muslim's for a terror attack but it is ok to blame all guns/owners for one sick fuck. BTW assault is a verb. Last year the foursome in front of us was drinking on the course. One of them used his driver to attack another golfer. They now sell that club it is called the AD-15. aka ASSAULT DRIVER-15.

If we would have made decisions years ago about the availability of certain firearms, these types of incidents would be fewer and farther between. All we can do now is move forward, hopefully learning from the past.

Oh, down the street at Merlin's, a neat little alt store. And the ball shows the results of decreased smoking in America when we focused on that, and the decrease in drunk driving when those laws became tougher, and how focusing on eliminating cell phone use while behind the wheel is aimed at minimizing distracted driving. Lo and behold, making changes to current gun legislation is seen in the crystal ball as a way to decrease the number of mass murders in the US. Pretty cool ball, indeed.

How did alcohol control during Prohibition work out? That said, the war on drugs has completely eliminated illegal usage, though. Right? In the cases you refer to, you are basically talking about people making more informed choices. Cigarettes are still legal. Alcohol is still legal. Cell phones are still legal. You are talking about people making personal choices to not smoke, not drink and drive and not text behind the wheel. What penalties and taxes are going to make a mass murderer change his mind? The Prohibition was to do away with all alcohol...that would never work And did the war on drugs completely eliminate illegal usage? No, that would be silly to think something like that (or guns, or alcohol) could be completely eliminated. Making a dent is a step in the right direction, wouldn't you agree? And then we can continue to improve upon the strides we make.

Kind of like lowering the nicotine levels in cigarettes.

Millions of law-abiding gun owners will not take kindly to their property being confiscated by their government because they obey the law and hurt no one. Rifles are a drop in the bucket compared to hand guns in terms of deaths in this country. You know why the left is far less zealous about going after them? Too many people ("voters") own them. And own them responsibly.

I see no answers on what should have been done to prevent this except after the fact rhetoric. Ban AR's? No guns for anyone. Metal detectors in hotels? Baggage checks in hotels? Complete backround checks on individuals before renting hotel rooms? No concerts near hotels? No concerts at all? No concerts in open areas?
