I would make a joke about wine prices going up...but it just doesn't seem appropriate. Rufus>>
1DayPGA
It's pretty bad up there. Not just one fire but multiple fires in different counties. One of the schools that was damaged was Cardinal Newman HS. They have a pretty good football team for D-3 think they've been to the state championship in year's past. Unfortunately, these fires are still not contained so there could be much more damage. A lot of trying to get containment has to do with the wind direction and wind speed. If the wind shifts and start coming from the West it will be more humid and less windy. A good thing. If it is from the North, or East it's going to be drier and more wind which spells trouble. Last Sunday night it was low pressure hitting high pressure and it caused some crazy dry windy conditions. 50-70 mph in some places knocking down power lines and blowing transformers. That's what they're speculating started these fires.
legendsofthefall
I just spoke with my coworkers out in San Jose area. They said that the smoke is bad and it looks like it's real foggy outside.

PrepGridiron
I'm about 40 miles from the fires, but the smoke is unbearable. It is really hard to go outside. It feels like you are breathing smoke. Many people have lost homes and lives. Really tragic for those that live in what we call the North Bay. I feel for California. it happens when we have a lot of rain in the winter...the hill sides turn green for 2 or 3 months but once summer hit all that green turns into fuel, then like Sammy said come October the Santa Ana winds come and fire get out of control...ash is still falling here in orange... Theres no humidity in Cali... its hot and dry most of the time... And dry hot wind plus dry hot land is not a good mix....
