Boy Scouts

How ridiculous! I'm all for inclusion but where does one draw the line? This opens up a whole Pandora's Box of issues such as camping trips, allowing your daughter to be with only adult male troop leaders, and so on. Most importantly, a main mission of Boy scouts is to help young boys develop life skills in order to become productive and successful men in today's society. I'm not being misogynistic at all when I say that girls have absolutely no place in Boy Scouts. Not any more than boys belong in Girl Scouts.

cant agree more with this statement. They have their own organization. First they let the gay leaders in. Now girls. Like you said were the heck does it end. Its not about inclusion. Its called the Boy Scouts. Its an organization for boys.

In this day and age, the left is trying convince us that gender is a social construct while simultaneously trying to convince us that there are 86 genders... ANNNNDDDD also fighting for women's rights (huh?)... when a woman can supposedly sport a beard and have an 8-inch johnson swinging between "her" legs.

But conservatives are the ones who are fucked up.

I hope the parents of the boy scouts pull their kids out and the Boy Scouts are done

True, but unfortunately there is almost no place left where boys can act like boys and girls/girls........in case you did not know there ACTUALLY IS a difference.

Just like all this STEM force feeding on the girls is not really helping them, even tho it does full fill some adults shortsighted sense "Fairness".  Boys and girls at younger ages learn and act differently in case you did not know.

I thought you were a pragmatic realist? what happened?

Like I said earlier we have co ed education and development as early as pre kindergarten.  Girls at a younger age develop faster than boys  cognitively.  Their motor skills also develop faster.

Before folks go off the deep end, there will need to be seen just home many girls will sign up...maybe not many

Girls can handle STEM, they just need the role models and the confidence early to develop those skills, but far too long they encounter males like you that discourage them. Gender role assigning is still prevalent in our society.

I hear you, but i think you are slightly of base.

The gender role assigning you refer to is coming from your camp not mine.  Of Course girls can 'handle' STEM if they are force fed it. That they don't naturally enjoy it and that boys minds by the way they function may have an easier time with it is being discounted and ignored by your sense of morals. As I said, what happened to you being a realist?

Maybe you're not familiar with STEM I don't know.  But I have worked in IT for 30+ years.  Even though I would love to see more woman in my office (truth believe me) it is apparent to me that certain mindsets are much more successfull than others in the industry.  As example my first job in IT,  with a department of 25 workers, 23 were left handed.  Wanna guess who the 2 right handers were??  If you were in IT you would already know.  I would say 90% were introverts.  This was not based on any 'gender role assigning', and is clear as day.  True across the board for both the women and men.  Today if a realist speaks to  this 'inconvenient truth' (to steal a lib phrase LOL) Google fires their ass pronto as it's too politically incorrect.   BTW: the right handers were the director and the director's secretary (the only two non-technical positions).

Any true REALIST would have to equate your 'more girls needed' as having as much validity as saying 'more right handed extroverts needed'....seriously, it's flawed logic that is not making anything more 'fairer' for the girls. But just because the salaries were good in the industry for a while, everyone thinks they need to jump on the bandwagon even if it's not suited for them.  I believe it's your position that actually does the disservice to them not mine.

Bottom line...girls and boys minds function slightly differently. Forcing either to accommodate the other in a learning environment which could have otherwise been designed specifically for them 'can' be counterproductive.

While you can't paint everyone with a broad stroke, and recognizing that individual children might fair better in either a co-ed or gender specific environment, I am proponent of always maintaining BOTH options so that parents and individuals (who are in a position to know best) can choose what works best for their child's situation.

That currently the boys cannot have anything 'just for them' will eventually carry over to all the 'girls clubs' as well.  While you may think this commendable, Being a realist myself,  I see it as counter productive, and the real disservice here.

You DO realize of course  that many fine High Schools like Bosco, Bergen Catholic, Holy Angels, and  Immaculate Heart Academy  are gender specific right? How well adjusted and successful are their graduates compared to their C

I don't have a "camp" I just told you my position. You spend too much time arguing the authenticity of my "realism" and less on the issue.  Enough with the labels...lol

Secondly, I never said more girls are needed. it's giving girls the option to know that a career in STEM  is available to them and create a pathway to success, that begins at an early age.  Identify those girls that have the interest and skill sets and encourage them into subjects that prepare them for the rigors in STEM

Thirdly, you've provided nothing as to why the new model would be detrimental to either boys or girls. I'd like to hear that view. You make assumptions that a girl and boy can't thrive under the same academic structure without offering evidence that that would be the case in this scenario.

The arguments I've read online have pretty much been nothing more than regurgitating the importance of upholding tradition, the sad part is no one explained why that tradition is valuable.

your view that girls don't "naturally" enjoy STEM is unacademic, that's not realism that's unsubstantiated bias.

This looks like the Boy Scouts starting to writhe in their death knell.  Truth be told, their self inflicted wounds started with acceptance of  LGBT leaders and members.

Truth be told, their death knell really started when the applauded a Trump political rally in the middle of their jamboree.

How about just "baseball". Same size ball...no underhand pitching..oh and same size basketballs as well.....pretty simple

we are talking scouts, not sports which are focused solely on physical attributes which is different for each gender. But I'm sure you know this...smh

The Boy Scouts can do what they want.  But I simply do not understand the compulsive need to undermine any organization that is set aside for boys - it is counterproductive in the long run.  All this concern about "toxic masculinity" - sometimes a little masculinity is a needed thing.

This is where any argument you have falls apart.  Since when are sports, especially amateur sports, focused solely on 'physical attributes'?

Given your position I guess those less physically gifted, have no cause and no right to benefit from what competitive sport has to offer....

Extremely hypocritical to say segregation in sport (youth or learning environment sports) is not comparable to (youth or learning environment) academics.

I'm talking in the execution of the sport (speed, power, strength, coordination) such as hitting a ball, running around a base, chasing down a fly ball, tackling an opponent, outrunning a corner back in football, etc. .  Of course there are other skills learned. im not addressing that.

Oh OK, went back and re-read your OP, and you are right, Sorry if I jumped the gun and assumed otherwise. The above statement I agree with 100% .  Problem is many people go well beyond that statement...and claim 'more girls ARE needed' like somehow society would be better served.  It's equivalent to saying more 'short people' are needed in basketball.

Given this statement tho,  what makes you think any girl does not already realize they can study or pursue science and technology?  Why the big push?

It's pushed because it's a lucrative and stable career with significant employment growth opportunities for the future.
