181pl
take down American heritage and Miami Norland in back to back weeks. Both ranked in the top 15 in the country at the time. That is a pretty impressive final two victories. Good for them. Dom is way overdue. He’s been coaching for 35 years.

The fact of the matter is that perception-preconceived notions- are significantly more important to fans than on-field results. People genuinely believe they know better than the results on the field.

No. The way that game, and the reaction to it figures in, is in the way people make assumptions about the 2023 teams based on the result of a game in a different season. You're happy to rank 2023 BG over 2023 Chaminade because you think you know how the game would go based on a different season. 2

Atticus Finch
It's not outrageous to think that a team that lost to Clearwater Centra Catholic and Calvary Christian isn't better than American Heritage and Norland. And that it's a fluke. But they still earned those victories. And still earned the trophy.

Of course in the sports where we can pick and choose what we want to be a fluke and what's not a fluke. Was does that have to do with BP winning back-to-back fluke games against supposedly national powers.....oh yeah, not a damn thing. For the record Newman wasn't that great in 2021. They had 3 losses that year. Be better than nobob813. LOSSES: #203 Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL) (49-24), #478 St. Charles Catholic (LaPlace, LA) (12-7), #544 Lafayette Christian Academy (Lafayette, LA) (49-7)

badrouter
Style of play is key here. No one Norland played (ok, I admit, I don't know about Bolles) ran the kind of offense BP did. BP had coaches and players who believed in and were committed to the scheme. Even when they were stopped 3 and out on the first possession, they knew they were going to keep at it. Most players these days don't want to have to face the power run every single play. They want to nuke the backfield for a loss of yards once or twice and be done with it. Usually, now, offenses oblige. But, when they don't, and they've got a big line and good backs, the defense is in for a long day.

Had a close loss to 13-1 CCC in the first game of they year. In the second game, Plant had them on the ropes and they came back with TDs late to pull away 31-24. They got on a roll after this with a close loss to Calvary that they avenged in the playoffs. I suspect if they played now, BP would defeat CCC the way Golden and Trouple have come on. They avenged the Calvary loss, which was close like the CCC loss. But that's just speculation. This shows you how ridulous Chamindae was this year. I think they are without question the class of Florida. Right now I'd probably go: 1. Chaminade 2. Columbus/STA 3. STA/Columbus Of the rest, I'd like Berekely's chances. Mandarin's too. They played Carrollwood day twice and won by a total of 3 points. Chaminade only beat Coconut Creek by a touchdown. They can throw it around with the best of them this year but an all-time great team they are not.
