Wow! It still boggles my mind that you think C-M is not worthy of their lofty status. You damn well know they would destroy Ely in a rematch (or maybe you don’t?) The only other time I disregarded a loss was IMG/Corner Canyon. I have since corrected that in my poll.

Rankings should largely reflect ACHIEVEMENT.  Losses should hurt a team's ranking, regardless of what one imagines might happen in a rematch, or in a series.

Should Alabama have been playing FSU for the 2013 title? Because I assume most feel Alabama would've won a rematch, or a series, with Auburn following the "kick six". But, it's not just that most improbable of a win that could be tossed aside given your rationale. You can toss aside just about any result you want, if you're sufficiently determined. Remember Florida, and/or Syracuse in 1998? How about we completely disregard those results and deny the Vols a place in the BCS title game? After all, the Vols were VERY fortunate to win both games. Oh wait, also Arkansas that season too. Should we toss those wins in the dumpster, and make them losses instead, on the grounds that we don't think UT could replicate its wins?

The answer, painful as it is for this alum of UF to admit, is FUCK NO.

If we ranked teams and awarded trophies based on what rankers IMAGINE would/could/should happen in hypothetical - imagined- results, Alabama would've won like 12 straight titles. It was understood that, in each of those years, Vegas would've installed 'Bama as a favorite against any/all teams playing for titles.

Chaminade lost to Ely. They also lost to SJB. They now start the QB who was shut down by Lakeland when he played for Central. They must pay a price for those losses.

Seriously, brother? You’re comparing college to high school? Big talent difference between those two. Alabama/Auburn is always a good game. Tennessee/Florida was a good game in 97 was as well. The talent between those 4 teams is WAAAAY more even than C-M and Ely. Ely winning was a fluke upset. I just can’t believe you don’t see that. If OLu had beaten SJB this weekend I would call it an upset, but I wouldn’t keep SJB ranked ahead of them. In that instance, the result on the field mattered. Now, had Ely put together a good season and, perhaps, beat C-M near the end of the regular season that might be agreeable. Do you see the difference there?

I'm speaking, strictly, of rationale and philosophy in ranking teams. The level of talent is not meaningful. Does a loss have ANY impact on ranking? It ALWAYS has...until recently...when the frequency with which people totally reject REALITY if it causes cognitive dissonance seems to be at an all-time high.

Any rankings list worth paying attention to punishes teams for losing. Again, I understand why Ely is not ahead of Chaminade. I do not understand how you can literally just entirely disregard a loss that actually happened on the grounds that you didn't expect it, and do not imagine the winning team could do it again. Lakeland, right now, belongs ahead of Chaminade in all rankings. Why is Larry Blustein wrong?

There it is! That’s what I’ve been waiting for. 🤣

On a side note: Go Gators today!!! (The only time you’ll hear a Vol fan say that).

The case is pretty clear for Lakeland to be ahead of 2-loss Chaminade, whose QB has already been defeated by Lakeland this season.

Great day to be a Gator!

Because they would both beat Lakeland.  Hell, Lakeland’s not even the best team in their own state. C-M would smack them like a little bitch.

Lakeland has already beaten Chaminade's QB on the field this season. But, the way the offense is playing, I can't make any bold assertions. The failures of the offense have weighed on the defense as well.

Quick update: we are still waiting for SBLive/Sports Illustrated to release their final rankings. Not sure what is taking them so long, but once they release their rankings the final comp poll for 2024 will be released.

  • Thanks 1
