Lakeland at Miami Central in one week. Let's hear your ignorant, uninformed predictions!

You probably only listening to the idiots if you think everyone who posts on these forums are ignorant and uninformed

Not everyone here is PC Gridiron, some people actually have a brain cell in their head and know what they are talking about

Hell there are people on a few of these forums who can do a better job with rankings then some of the current rankings out there by "experts" like Suckpreps

It's the 17th of August...ALL picks are ignorant and uninformed at the moment.

I've done preseason polls where I went 100% accuracy for teams who eventually won a state title

How can anyone be ignorant or uninformed if they are CORRECT

Most people don't realize that most elite teams are built by the same makeup and principles. You don't always have to see a team to figure out if they are good enough to win against another team or even to win a classification. Sometimes it's as simple as looking at their roster, other times it's looking at how they finished the previous season and what they bring back compared to their competition, other times it's a certain buzz around a program. It's not rocket science it's high school football

Both programs are great teams but it's hard to bet against Miami Central who has played in countless of games like these over the years

I like Central here in a 7-10 point range at home

  • badrouter changed the title to Dreadnaughts @ Rockets preview, prediction and live stream link:

It's generally hard for me to make picks involving my alma mater. I don't really enjoy being a partisan homer like I used to, but, let's be honest, that's what I am 😁 .

This is one of the most consequential games in the history of Lakeland football. It won't be that for Central...unless Lakeland beats them in a way that it ends up altering Central's program. The all-time winningest coach in Florida history stepped down before last season, and his heir apparent dropped three home games prior to winning the 4S title. But, that title came without having to face truly elite teams. The result is people are leaning towards thinking Lakeland is a cut below the top in the state, which is a fall from the 2000s. Central, on the other hand, enjoys the benefit of the doubt and is the prohibitive favorite.

Neither team has played a regular season game, or even a game where they felt they needed to have open playbooks. Truthfully, I have no way to be sure what will happen in the game, just like everyone else.

Lakeland has retooled its defense after a disappointing 2023. I *think* it will prove to be a particularly nasty Lakeland defense, ranking among the best they've had. They are fast, tenacious and focused. I think the Rockets are going to have a VERY difficult time sustaining drives. And I think the 'Naughts are expecting a lot of deep shots from the Rockets.

Offensively, the 'Naughts will be without two of their best playmakers on offense (Jaysean Pritchard and Jordan Henderson). They also were without their QB in the spring game, and threw the ball sparingly in the KOC. It's difficult to get a good read on exactly how good they'll be, especially here in August without the two playmakers. If they make plays, Shanard Clower is probably their best bet, with Jadarius Dobie being a close second. I do have a hunch that we'll see Malik Morris get a healthy share of carries, and he may make the difference if he can weigh on the Rockets defense. Frazier et al also seem to like trick plays, so we may see one or two of those. Obviously, avoiding turnovers will be a key for both teams.

I'm going to assume Central held a bunch back in the Vanguard game. If the offensive performance was actually indicative of where the Rockets are, then I think Central will be on shutout alert. The offensive performance vs. Vanguard aligns with being shutout by this Lakeland defense. But, like I said, Central will be bringing some new stuff and will play much better. I think the QB Kritzka will play sparingly. They'll probably start him and try the Lakeland defense deep a couple times. If they miss, Central will bench him and run a bunch of option with the other QB.

Central's D looks nasty. Given the questions for Lakeland's offense, I think a defensive struggle could be coming.

Trying my best to evaluate the game objectively, I have a sense Lakeland may beat the Rockets down. But, I don't fully trust that intuition as I am a Lakeland homer. That said, I'm not superstitious. My pick will have no bearing on the outcome of the game. So, fuck it:

Lakeland 22, Miami Central Dunkin Donut.

Stream for the game @topnotch305 offered does appear to be legit. It is here

Pass that looked like it might get picked but instead went for 6. Lakeland leads at the half 9-6.

Yeah you weren't kidding Lakeland D looks nice.   They look "grown" like they used to back in the day if that makes sense.    Any of those 3 on the Dline getting looked at?   Stream is hard to see details but they look strong in the trenches on both sides.   Cool to see Lakeland go with some old school power formations, you know Central rarely sees that haha.

It really hurt to have 1st and goal at the five, gain 3/4 yards on a dive...only to lose 15 yards on a chop block play to force 1st and goal at the 20. Needed 7 that drive not 3.

Lightning delay. A possibly big development is Lakeland's best DL didn't start the 2nd half, and Central went right at his backup twice with some success. They have a 2nd and 10 inside the 45 after play resumes. Lakeland better get Donta Jenkins back in if he's able!

Congrats fellas!   I know ya'll were nervous after that safety haha!   Like the only way they had a chance to get back down 2 scores was getting that safety sheesh.     Anyways good win!

The play call to the scat back was looking like an all-time bozo call. But the defense was just fucking nails.

After this game, I don't know if both teams are that good or just that damn sloppy.  At any rate, both teams will be fine going forward.  It's great to get a W on the road, lol.

The game went out for me for 2 minutes and when it came back on, the safety had already happened.  Then I was like, damn, Central about to get the ball back, lol.

man, the other link on facebook was money the whole game. I did have the other link going as well and noticed it appeared to go out. The facebook link was from the Lakeland side so we could hear "Dreadnaught defense" chants all second half.

It was sloppy because 1) it's August and 2) those are two great defenses. It's easy to critique an offense when they play a great defense lol
