JCGIII
Milton has played football since 1952. Until 2017 and the arrival of Adam Clack, there was nothing in their history to suggest that Milton would become Georgia's premier team. That history, posted below is unremarkable until 2017. Maybe a dozen 8-9 game-win seasons. Something and someone happened to change the interest level and use football as a rallying point for the school. Hopefully, Milton will continue to grow their program. And other Georgia schools should take note and try to emulate what Milton is doing. https://ghsfha.org/w/Special:GHSFHA/school/records/Milton
HooverOutlaw
Just not enough star rated players around for everyone to be as talented as Milton.

There is nothing but air and opportunity preventing a good number of other programs from matching Milton. Or give it the old college try. Not everyone, obviously. Several in Cobb, Gwinnett, and in other areas of the state. Buford, Carrollton Marietta, and Gainesville have the resources. Columbia County is the land of opportunity for a coach with patience and political tact.

There is a ton of old money in South GA that was keeping communities small and what's happening now is a lot of these old heads are kicking the bucket and their Grandkids are taking the money and bringing in more new money... Colquitt County,Tift County,Lee County,Thomas County and Lowndes County are the perfect example... I exclude Camden because they are already booming and where always destined to grow due to their location and proximity to Jacksonville,FL, Major Ports and King's Bay Naval Base. Colquitt,Tift and Lowndes where always stunted because of the old city planners. But now word on the street is Tifton is getting a Hooters... which if you told me that back in 2013 I would've laughed you into misery... But my last visit there the city was unrecognizable from when I was in HS... Same for Moultrie... But Footballwise Tift has too many backseat coaches and it's why they have a hard time keeping anyone... The current coach at Dutchtown (Mcdonough,GA) is from Tift County... The players loved him and students wanted him to be the next HC there was a very big outcry for him to take over.... (Without getting political...) the BOE pretty much told him no and told the students to shut up... So he left and took over at Dutchtown and another coach the kids wanted left and went to one of the Warner Robins Schools... Tift has destroyed their own football culture... They've been trying to get Gene Brodies son to come back and takeover but he told them no... Tift did Brodies family dirty after he left this world and I doubt they'll ever come back to Tift County... He's on the coaching staff at Gainesville Now I believe....

GeorgeW
Congrats to Milton. Took a big risk in week 1 and it paid off big! Georgia teams should take note and me more willing to step out of their comfort zone.

Alabama 7A except for Central in 2023 is the same way the last 5-6 years. Central has done it primarily with local kids. Yes they have had a few transfers but nothing compared to Thompson and Gulf Shores. From 2000-2023 Hoover had four star rated players move in/transfer in. Thompson from 2018-2024 has had 31 move in.

Nobody 30 years thought you would see the basically open recruiting in metro Atlanta that goes on now. In Alabama we have 3 schools that are Atlanta like. Thompson and Gulf Shores whose coaches were either related to or personal friends with the former AHSAA director and Parker who just out of the blue is getting transfers by the truck load. The new director was hired for 1 reason to stop transfers and stop the buddy system. I understand the AHSAA is looking at Parker right now.

Milton has the right mix of talent and coaching, which makes me scratch my head with Buford b/c they’re loaded, but appear to struggle more than they should with that much talent.

If they don’t they might need to look at replacing that staff.
TheMaximumHornetSting
If HS's where as talented as their community's where rich: Allatoona HS and Harrison HS would be a carbon copy of Milton and probably the best schools in Cobb County. John's Creek HS,Roswell HS,Alpharetta HS,Langston Hughes And Chattahoochee HS would be monsters year in and year out...

I know Augusta and Columbia County have money but something I never understood... How Glenn Hills and Aquinas are such big underperformers when they get the money for Augusta... And how Lakeside,Grovetown and Greenbriar also underperform... Except I'll give Greenbriar this... they kick straight ass in Baseball though... I remember they went out to Texas a few years ago and beat some of the top teams from AZ,TX and CA...

But in a serious note... one thing helping GA in general is we are one of the most "Affordable" states in the country . I say "Affordable" because it depends on where your looking... Atlanta and Savannah are becoming increasingly expensive... Saint Marys down In Camden County is also getting up there now and sits inside the top 15 most expensive cities in the state...
