Question for West Coast guys regarding Polynesians

I read somewhere that MD, SJB, BG, Cen10, Servite (that year with the Fifita family) would get Polynesians from all these youth camps like Polynesian Classics. They're basically a bucnh of retired Polynesian NFL/Rugby players who would recruit these guys to play.

If you guys from the rest of America want to know why Mater Dei, SJB, BG, Cen10, have been so good and why they do so damn well, one of the reasons why is because of Polynesians. Since 2013 til 2023, every single year a West Coast team has had the share of the MNC because of these dudes.

Can't speak for the rest but mater dei didn't rise until Rollins started his youth football camps aka the mater dei football team tryouts. He himself said that's where he found his star QBs. It's a mix of the island kids size on the line and the ability to move in skill kids from wherever they need to. Just like they were able to get the #1 WR in the country to move in this year. A real high school would be lucky to get 1 legit D1 transfer in a 4 year span. Mater dump gets multiple yearly.

You go back far enough you can see how those teams looked before they sold out to the transfer portal lifestyle and it wasn't pretty.

2 Way starter for Mater Dei in 2011. Thomas Durate. Was a 4 star player and started for UCLA. Also for the Monarchs.

I grew up with Samoans, Tongans and Pacific Islanders in general. They just love football and contact sports more than other cultures. Combine that with their natural size advantage and the prospect of making NFL money in the future (or NIL money now) drives a lot of them to playing football.

Also Las Vegas is called the Ninth Island by the huge influx of people that have moved here from the Pacific Islands. That’s why Gorman, Liberty and many other schools in Las Vegas have a large Poly influence.

Don’t a lot of the top Utah teams bring in the Polynesians as well?

They grow up there.  Utah has had a large Poly population for decades.  While many settled in CA and WA bc those are the closest mainland states to home, many settled in Utah bc a disproportionately high percentage of Polys (vs the rest of the American population) are Mormons.
