OdbCle
1. St. Edward (previously #1, beat St. Joseph's Prep (PA) 35-21): Statement win over nationally ranked SJP with the Eagles exploding in the 2nd quarter for 35 points. Senior Bradley Eaton had one of the best performances I can remember from a St. Edward player with a blocked punt recovered for a TD, a 94-yard KO return, an interception, 3 PBU's and several tackles. This isn't as star-studded a group as in the past, but there are a lot of good football players on this team that play well together. The new look O-line had a questionable performance, but SJP has a very formidable front 7 on defense. Interesting game this week as they play host to 4-peat Kentucky champs Boyle County, calpreps #1 rated KY team. 9/7 v. Boyle County (KY) 2. Massillon (previously #2, beat Canton GlenOak 45-0): After a so-so performance in week one, the Tigers got back on track by pasting GlenOak. Good confidence-building game before the showdown with Bergen Catholic this week. The Tigers will need a more disciplined performance than what they've shown the first two weeks to beat BC. 9/6 v. Bergen Catholic (NJ). 3. Avon (previously #3, beat Canton McKinley 21-14): Solid win over a talented D1 McKinley team, but after watching the Bulldogs in week one I expected Avon to beat them more handily. Glenville comes in this week and will have even more athleticism than McKinley. However, Glenville is very young this year and struggling to find consistency on offense. Avon needs to win this convincingly to hold off Moeller from moving up. 9/6 v. Glenville 4. Moeller (previously #4, beat Bishop Dwenger (IN) 42-18): Along with St. Ed's, Moeller is looking like the class of D1 so far. Their offense has put up 40+ in both games and the defense has some big time players too. 9/6 v. East Central (IN) 5. Hoban (previously #5, beat Don Bosco Prep 21-7): The Knights took care of business against DBP and the loss to Spalding is looking much better as they appear to be class of Maryland this year. Still like to see more from their offense with the talent on that roster. 9/6 v. Buchtel 6. TCC (previously #6, beat Whitmer 27-17): Good win over D1 Whitmer. While TCC is still the class of DIII, there are a couple potential challengers that are off to good starts this year in VASJ, Benedictine and Chardon. The Irish start a three game stretch of Michigan teams. 9/6 @ Detroit Catholic Central (MI). 7. Lakota West (previously #7, beat Hamilton 31-0): Defense looking like it picked up where they left off last year, and the offense was able to get some momentum against Hamilton. Only Princeton is looking like viable threat to them in the GMC this year. 9/6 v. Lakota East 8. Winton Woods (previously #8, beat Kings 19-5): Another great defensive performance, but still limited offensive output. If I'm in R4 and looking at a potential playoff matchup with Moeller, I have to be able to score some points. 9/6 v. Milford 9. St. X (previously #9, beat Centerville 34-10): The young Herbstreit had a solid performance in leading his team to victory over dad's alma mater. However, X appears to implementing a bit of a 2-QB system with the junior Volmer also taking some snaps. Defense looks vintage St. X in the early going. 9/6 v Indianapolis Cathedral (IN) 10. Olentangy Liberty (previously unranked, beat Glenville 24-13): Liberty makes their first debut after beating Glenville this weekend in addition to a shutout victory over Olentangy in week one. I was close to putting Groveport-Madison in here after they knocked off Gahanna over the weekend, but Liberty has a little more pedigree in recent Columbus history. We'll find out soon enough if this ranking is warranted as Liberty will be hosting Gahanna. 9/6 v. Gahanna-Lincoln Others: Groveport-Madison, Pick North, Mentor, Walsh Jesuit, Princeton, Elder, VASJ, Cleveland Heights, Canton McKinley, Glenville

reggid
Eds throws an INT on 4th down and BC returns it inside the 10. That should just about do it. Eds will need a miracle in the last 8 minutes. Just looked off all day. Couldn’t get the passing game going and couldn’t stop the run.

reggid
FG. Eds trails BC 38-21 with 4 minutes left. Just an ugly performance on a cold day. Give BC big credit — they came to play, and ran it all over Eds.

The INT thrown by Eds when driving to tie it at 28 was a killer. Instead of 28-28, it was suddenly 35-21.
reggid
Hopefully. as it has in past years, this kind of loss will wake up Eds and make them realize that they can’t believe their own hype and need to take every game seriously. Hopefully now they can forget the meaningless national rankings and focus on another state title.
