Really gross I know. It's almost certainly the most "ewww" verse in the entire Bible. But the grossness is of course deliberate. God in this entire chapter is depicting Israel's moral failures in sexual terms. He likens Israel to a prostitute, who gave herself over to lewdness and inhonorable men and is thus worthy of disgust. Depicting immorality in sexual terms is unbelievably effective In conveying the weight of someone's immorality.

Most people have an innate sense of what is sexually disgusting, even among their sexual desires they can almost naturally discern that some of their desires are gross. Think of porn, there's the whole "joke" of people waiting for the video to load and thinking to themselves 'what am I doing? This is disgusting and sad, why am I watching this' basically all you need to do to make someone feel ashamed of their sexual tendencies is to DESCRIBE IT TO THEM. Someone who's into a kinky fetish will typically just feel ashamed thinking about their attraction. All of this makes sex a very useful tool in conveying general immorality, because that innate sense of shame isn't present in other forms of sin. If you told a porn addict 'hey stop lusting and just look at what you're watching critically' 90% of them would immediately feel ashamed. If you told a molech worshiper 'hey look at this! You're sacrificing your own son to a totem' they likely wouldn't feel ashamed if they've already bought into the ideology.

Seriously the chapter is so brilliant. God is basically saying to Israel 'HEY isn't THIS disgusting' and all of Israel would innately respond 'well yeah' and than God would respond "and THIS is a representation of what YOU'RE doing. Can you not see that? It's very convicting.

I read it and it sounded reasonable. He took one quote from the Bible, intentionally out of context, and it’s supposed to be the gospel. Lol. Finding a long drawn out breakdown of the controversial quote that is certainly plausible. Doesn’t move the needle. SMH

Does your belief in sin make it a reality?  Does your belief make it a reality for me?  Are we born with sin?  Did God create sin as part of creation, or did humans create sin apart from what God created?  Highly implausible.  

The Americas are not ideas, they are continents.  Statutes are actual written law, so they are real.  Sin does not fit in the 'things' category.  A book says we are sinners and there are people who believe what the book says and some who do not.  

I simply do not think that God would deny any of his children because of mistakes made here, no matter how terrible.  Do you think God is vengeful?  Karma/cause and effects take care of any and all transgressions and that frees us from the need to judge which Christianity tells us we should not do.  That doesn't mean we let people do any terrible thing they want to.  We still have laws and the safety of society to protect.

To be fair that was during an invasion. And at the time it was a deadly and terrorist threat. But I concede, it was a little over the top. Emotions got the best of me, but there was definitely extreme measures needed to neutralize the threat at the time. War is not a fun time
