Clemson wasn’t very good, SMU wasn’t very good, Miami wasn’t very good and the ACC wasn’t very good.  Rewarding teams who feast on nobodies and then whine about not getting respected is not where CFB wants to go.  SMU had their shot - they blew it.  Sure the finish was entertaining, but SMU brain-farted and gagged it away.  Of course that should be considered.

So we reward mediocrity instead?

All of Bamas ranked wins where in Conference...

They beat no one of note in OOC...

Wisky fucking sucks

That USF game... LMAO that score is a lie we all watched that game...

Western KY...really?

And the true downfall of the SEC... not playing 9 games but wanting to be respected for playing MERCER in November.

Move to 9 Conference games dammit...

You mean the same Wisky team that took the #1 team in the country to the brink? Don’t get me wrong, I hate Bama being a Tennessee fan, but they will get in on their name and brand.

My gut is telling me the committee is gonna drop SMU out...

Their gonna say some BS about not ranking SMU over Clemson when Clemson beat them.

Then we're gonna get a long lesson on Bama beating SC H2H and SC beating Clemson....

I just feel it...

SMU is gonna get shafted...

SMU has zero top 25 wins. Should only be an 8 team field. SMU would be 6-6 with Georgia's schedule.

My hot take - any playoff field letting in two-loss teams is too big of a field. For over a century the standard for a college football national champion was that even one-loss could disqualify a team from championship contention and we've lost the plot altogether when there's public debate about three-loss teams deserving to have a chance to be crowned the best team in America. How that is an improvement from arguing whether undefeated Washington or Miami teams are the national champion is beyond me.

Because no one is handing a 2 loss team the title, they have to win 3or 4 playoff games.  It is why we wild cards in baseball, a 68 team March Madness, 14 teams in the NFL playoffs.  If it is 2 losses and you’re out, say goodbye to any meaningful nonconference games.  Getting into March Madness is all about quality wins.  It is why we are treated to UNC-Kansas, Duke-Kentucky, the ACC-Big 10 challenge and the like during the year.  You don’t get to play a schedule anyone in the top 30 could dominate and then stand and say you are great.

Neither does Indiana…. SMU at least played in a Conference Championship game and their 2 losses were by a total of 6 points….

Indiana didn’t make a Championship, best no Top 25 teams and got Boatraced by the only Good team they played and that team lost twice!….

SMU should be in over Indiana, not sure why Indiana deserves to be in the playoffs….

Plus for TV, wouldn’t they want the Dallas Market and a Brand name like Bama in there?…. No one cares about Indiana…. 🤣

If this were truly the case there would not be a well-documented history of made-for-TV Kickoff Classic events dating back to the late 70s (or the era when one loss more than likely 86'd your championship hopes). As long as decisions about these matters are driven by television ratings you're not losing the big non-conference tilts.

Equating a college football playoff to March Madness is a profoundly miserable take, especially considering that the big debate this season revolved around whether the name brand of name brands of the sport belongs in a playoff field after losing three games. Expanding the field doesn't mean greater access for teams like Boise (your true Cinderella teams), it's to ensure that the megabrands almost never have to worry about not having a seat at the table.

Do you feel better now? Lol

Oddly enough....

No...

Because we gotta play Tennessee first...

And I respect the Vols...

Which makes me feel bad for what comes next Omaha...

But yall are in the way...

We can do this the easy way

Or we can do this the hard way...

But either way yall gotta move....

Of course I'm rooting for my Vols, but your Buckeyes are too talented. I just don't see them losing two games in a row at the Shoe. We are tough to beat at Neyland. I would have more hope, but not if the game's in Columbus. Remember, I did predict OSU to win it all this year. Good luck and hope it's an exciting game.

Unfortunately I don't have faith we win it all...

Ryan Day is trying to give James Franklin a run for his money on the blowing big games throne...

We have the Talent and Means to win it all...

But WILL WE?

is a different matter entirely
