ECHS05 Predicts Georgias 7A Playoff Bracket

NEWnan bit the dusk tonight against the (5-4)Pebblebrook Falcons, as I predicted! And LOOKS as though EC is OUT of the playoffs as of this moment! Colquitt will be making that call to Dominos in MABLETON in two weeks! And God willing, I'll be there next Friddie nite to see WHAT'S WHAT, against the Wheeler Mildcats!:$

Lol... no. EC isnt out.

Region 2 is going to play out like this.

Westlake and Pebblebrook are locked in as the #1 and #2 seeds.

At the moment Campbell and Newnan are tied for #3.

Newnan plays East Coweta & Campbell plays Westlake.

East Coweta will be favored to beat Newnan, and Westlake will be favored to beat Campbell.

IF that happens, there will be a 3-way tie for the 3rd seed between EC, Newnan, and Campbell. At this moment, Newnan has given up 90 points in Region play, EC 91, and Campbell 104. You got to think EC beats Newnan by more than 1. So thatd means EC wins the #3 seed by way of least amount of points surrendered. And Newnan beat Campbell H2H.

Note: Im honestly not sure if least amount of points surrendered is how Region 2 breaks their 3-way ties... but I think thats the case.

If so, the most likely scenario...

1. Westlake (vs At Large)

2. Pebblebrook (vs Colquitt Co.)

3. East Coweta (@ Tift Co.)

4. Newnan (@ Lowndes)

Lets check it out after last night...

Some teams are completely finished with their regular season, but most have 1 more game remaining next weekend... theres still some seeds up for grabs. When I place teams, if they arent already a lock, Im seeding them based on the most likely outcome of next weeks games.

*** Question for a Georgian that may know -- does Regions 2 & 6 use the same 3-way tiebreaker method as Region 1? It appears those 2 Regions  are headed for 3-way ties for 2nd***

>>> If I underline the teams name, it means theyve clinched their playoff seed... <<<

7A Playoff Bracket:

Upper Left Quadrant:

(R6-#3) Collins Hill @ (R5-#2) Milton

(R8-#4) South Gwinnett @ (R7-#1) Brookwood

(R2-#3) East Coweta @ (R1-#2) Tift Co.

(R4-#4) Etowah @ (R3-#1) McEachern

- - - - - - - - - - -

Lower Left Quadrant:

(R5-#3) West Forsyth @ (R6-#2) Mill Creek

(R7-#4) Meadowcreek @ (R8-#1) Archer

(R1-#3) Colquitt Co. @ (R2-#2) Pebblebrook

(R3-#4) North Cobb @ (R4-#1) Walton

= = = = = = = = = = =

Upper Right Quadrant:

(R8-#3) Newton @ (R7-#2) Parkview

(R6-#4) Mountain View @ (R5-#1) South Forsyth (totally tubular 1st rd game)

(R4-#3) Woodstock @ (R3-#2) Hillgrove

(R2-#4) Newnan @ (R1-#1) Lowndes

- - - - - - - - - - -

Lower Right Quadrant:

(R7-#3) Norcross @ (R8-#2) Grayson

(R5-#4) North Forsyth @ (R6-#1) North Gwinnett

(R3-#3) North Paulding @ (R4-#2) Lassiter

(At Large) Marietta @ (R2-#1) Westlake

* by name = Seed locked in

Region 1:

1. Lowndes - *

2. Tift Co. - *

3. Colquitt - *

Region 2:  The #1 & #2 seeds are a lock. ... and based on results next week, East Coweta, Newnan, and Campbell would be in a 3-way tie for 3rd. I predicted EC beats Newnan & Westlake beats Campbell. Im not sure how Region 2 does their 3-way tiebreakers... but we will assume they do it the same way as Region 1. Right now EC has given up 91 points in region play, Newnan 90, and Campbell 104. I figure if EC beats Newnan, EC will surpass Newnan using that method, and EC would get the #3 seed. EC will be the favorite in that game. Thatd leave Newnan & Campbell as the teams for the 4th seed... Newnan defeated Campbell H2H so Newnan gets the #4 seed.

1. Westlake - *

2. Pebblebrook - *

3. East Coweta

4. Newnan

Region 3: Theres still a lot of unknowns in this Region, nothing is certain... so I'll give my best educated guess. McEachern plays @ Hillgrove to determine the #1 seed next week, Im assuming McEachern wins. North Paulding plays Marietta, Im assuming North Paulding pulls out a close game and thatd give North Paulding the #3 seed. If North Cobb beats Kennesaw Mountain, which they should.. then Marietta & North Cobb would be tied for 4th, but North Cobb won the H2H 7-0. So theyd get the #4 seed... and a very talented Marietta team would be left out.

1. McEachern

2. Hillgrove

3. North Paulding

4. North Cobb

Region 4: Technically... Woodstock can still win the Region over Walton... the 2 play @ Walton next week... but Im going to assume Walton wins. If Lassiter beats Etowah next week, thatd leave Lassiter & Woodstock tied for 2nd, but Lassiter won the regular season matchup so Lassiter gets the 2 seed. Etowah will get the 4 seed even if they lose to Lassiter, bc they beat Roswell in the reg. season. So Roswell will miss the playoffs after going 28-2 the last 2 seasons with 2 straight trips to the State Championship.

1. Walton

2. Lassiter

3. Woodstock

4. Etowah

Region 5: If West Forsyth beats South Forsyth, and Milton beats North Forsyth, it'll create a 3-way tie at the top. But South Forsyth is looking good at 9-0, they should beat West Forsyth.. we'll give SoFo the #1 seed. If SoFo beats West Forsyth, that'll clear the way for Milton to be the #2 seed also, as long as Milton beats North Forsyth which they should. If those 2 things happen it'll make seeding this Region simple as West Forsyth will get #3 and North Forsyth #4. The other 2 teams in the Region are eliminated, the 4 teams in this Region WILL be SoFo, Milton, WestFo, and NorthFo.. its just a matter of the order they'll be in.

1. South Forsyth

2. Milton

3. West Forsyth

4. North Forsyth

Region 6: North Gwinnett has won the #1 seed for sure already. Mountain View, Mill Creek, and Collins Hill are almost for sure going to finish in a 3-way tie for 2nd.. all sitting at 4-2 in region play. To be honest, Im not sure how Region 6 breaks their 3-way ties... but Im going to assume they do it the same way as Region 1. If Mill Creek keeps Duluth from scoring 26 theyll get the #2 seed... again thats if they do it the same way as Region 1. Then Collins Hill will get the #3 seed based on beating Mountain View in the regular season. Which is ashame because Mountain View is too good to be a #4 seed.

1. North Gwinnett - *

2. Mill Creek

3. Collins Hill

4. Mountain View

Region 7: Brookwood has clinched the #1 seed and Parkview has clinched #2. Norcross & Meadowcreek will get 3 and 4 in some order... depending on who wins next Friday... Norcross is favored... surprisingly Central Gwinnett is going to miss the playoffs.

1. Brookwood - *

2. Parkview - *

3. Norcross

4. Meadowcreek

Region 8: Technically Archer has to beat Shiloh to clinch the division so I cant put an * by their name, but they pretty much have it in the bag. If Grayson loses to South Gwinnett, itll create a 3-way tie for 2nd... but Grayson is going to beat South Gwinnett. Newton will take 3rd and South Gwinnett 4th. This is all pretty close to a for sure thing.

1. Archer

2. Grayson

3. Newton

4. South Gwinnett

As far as the At Large bid... IMO that goes to Marietta.

My Predicted 5A 1st Round Playoff Matchups...

Again, if the team is a lock for their seed .. Ill underline them...

Upper Left Quad:

(R6-#3) Banneker @ (R5-#2) Southwest DeKalb

(R8-#4) Cedar Shoals @ (R7-#1) Rome

(R2-#3) New Hampstead @ (R1-#2) Bainbridge

(R4-#4) Dutchtown @ (R3-#1) Griffin

Lower Left Quad:

(R5-#3) Columbia @ (R6-#2) Jackson

(R7-#4) East Paulding @ (R8-#1) Buford

(R1-#3) Harris Co. @ (R2-#2) Ware Co.

(R3-#4) McIntosh @ (R4-#1) Stockbridge

=====================

Upper Right Quad:

(R8-#3) Clarke Central @ (R7-#2) Carrollton

(R6-#4) North Springs @ (R5-#1) Arabia Mountain

(R4-#3) Eagle's Landing @ (R3-#2) Starr's Mill

(R2-#4) South Effingham @ (R1-#1) Warner Robins

Lower Right Quad:

(R7-#3) Kell @ (R8-#2) Flowery Branch

(R5-#4) Lithonia @ (R6-#1) Carver (Atlanta)

(R3-#3) Whitewater @ (R4-#2) Jones Co.

(R1-#4) Thomas Co. Central @ (R2-#1) Wayne Co.

=============

* = Seed Locked In

Region 1: Bainbridge plays @ Warner Robins to determine the #1 seed in R1. Warner Robins will be favored so Im giving them the #1 seed. Bainbridge will get #2.Thomas Co. Central plays @ Harris Co. to determine the #3 and #4 seed. Im going to go with Harris Co. here. TCC vs Harris Co. is literally a 50/50 game... winner gets the #3 seed, loser #4.

1. Warner Robins

2. Bainbridge

3. Harris Co.

4. Thomas Co. Central

Region 2: Waynes locked in at #1. Ware Co. & New Hampstead play next Friday for the #2 seed, winner gets 2, loser gets 3. Ware should win. South Effingham is a lock at #4.

1. Wayne Co. - *

2. Ware Co.

3. New Hampstead

4. South Effingham - *

Region 3: At the moment, theres a 3-way tie for 1st place between Starr's Mill, Griffin, & Whitewater.  Im going to assume all 3 win next Friday, which theyll be favored to do... and then use a low point tie breaker... this is pretty much a crap-shoot. So, Griffin wins the points... and Starr's Mill holds the H2H on Whitewater... so Griff is 1, SM 2, and WW 3. McIntosh will be #4 unless Fayette Co. pulls off a crazy upset over Starr's Mill... then the Region gets really complicated. But what I have below is what makes the most sense and is the most likely

1. Griffin

2. Starr's Mill

3. Whitewater

4. McIntosh

Region 4: Stockbridge has clinched #1, Jones Co. has to beat Dutchtown to win the #2 seed.. which they should do, but Dutchtown is pretty good. If Dutchtown wins, Dtown is #2 and Jones #3. But if Jones wins, Jones is 2 and Dutchtown falls to #4. From top to bottom, Region 5 has the strongest playoff reps. All of them are good... well Region 7 may have em beat, its close.

1. Stockbridge - *

2. Jones Co.

3. Eagle's Landing

4. Dutchtown

Region 5: Arabia Mountain has clinched the #1 seed. ... not getting into details with this Region, but this makes the most sense.

1. Arabia Mountain - *

2. Southwest DeKalb

3. Columbia

4. Lithonia

Region 6: Carver (Atl.), Jackson, and Banneker have seeds 1, 2, and 3 locked in. North Springs seems the most likely to take #4.

1. Carver (Atlanta) - *

2. Jackson - *

3. Banneker - *

4. North Springs

Region 7: Rome is locked in the #1 seed. Carrollton has an easy win ahead of em and that'll lock up #2 for them. Kell should win easy and that'll lock up #3. East Paulding plays @ Paulding Co. to determine the #4 seed. Ill take East Paulding here.

1. Rome - *

2. Carrollton

3. Kell

4. East Paulding

Region 8: Buford plays @ Flowery Branch to determine the #1 seed. The loser will get #2 as both are undefeated in region play. Clarke Central is locked in at 3. Cedar Shoals should beat Walnut Grove to lock down the #4 slot.

1. Buford

2. Flowery Branch

3. Clarke Central - *

4. Cedar Shoals

By the BY, 2, 3,and 4 have a SHORT lifespan in these playoffs!:)

As far as the At Large bid... IMO that goes to Marietta.

After watching the McEachern & Marietta game if  Marietta’s Qb is ready and Marietta gets in playoffs they are going to knock some folks off. Marietta lost that game off special team mistakes! Their WRs where run open all night and the back up Qb had no clue.

SOOOOOO, EC actually thinks that East Coweta will put up a fight against TIFT?xD Against Colquitt, Tift had 250 yds. RUSHING, and 250 yds. PASSING, in the HOG PEN! A MUCH better offense than Lowndes! You shut down Barrett on the QB draw, and THEY are DONE! Lowndes played like a UNDERDOG ALL night long! Three fourth down plays, a faked punt, an onside kick, a missed 35 yd. FG by Colquitt, and they shagged TWO high snaps outta their ass on punts, to survive! We just don't have enough size on the D line to accomplish that task of stopping Barrett! He's bigger than all but two of our top 22 defensive rotation!

CONVERSELY, TIFT is probably the toughest first round draw in the STATE!

He is out of his mind.  Fake punt was not a fake at all, high snap, onside kick was because Lowndes kicked off from Colquitt's 45  smart guy, Lowndes had the game tying TD called back earlier in the game from some phantom procedure call, and Colquitt put the ball on the carpet several times and recovered them all. Barrett was was hurt and unable to throw ball deep but completed passes when he needed to and ran roughshod over that defense. Tisdale was out most of 3rd and 4th and Lowndes still won. Wow, they knew Lowndes was running and couldn't do a thing about it.
