TheRealCAJ
Rummel Raiders will travel to Shreveport (5+ hours) to face CE Byrd Friday night. If lucky enough to get a win Rummel will travel back to Shreveport to face Evangel Christian round two. Evangel got the #1 in D1 and it's setting up nicely for an Evangel Christian vs John Curtis showdown in the Dome. https://lhsaaonline.org/MainBracket16.aspx?s=1&y=2017&d=I 2017 LHSAA Football Playoff Bracket - DIVISION I 1st ROUND - 11/9-11 QUARTERFINALS - 11/16-18 SEMI-FINALS - 11/23-25 FINAL - 12/9 * Denotes Home Team 1 Evangel Christian* Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Prep Classic - Bye December 7 - 9, 2017 1 Evangel Christian Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans 9 Archbishop Rummel 8 Byrd, C.E.* 11/10, 7:00 PM @Tad Gormley 5 St. Augustine* 12 Jesuit 11/10, 7:00 PM @Olympia Stadium 4 Catholic - B.R.* 13 Archbishop Shaw State Football Champion 3 Scotlandville* - Bye 3 Scotlandville 6 Brother Martin* 11 McKinley 7 St. Paul's* 10 Holy Cross 2 Curtis, John 2 Curtis, John* - Bye
Nolebull813
I love the seeding format in Louisiana. They don't bitch and complain about travel.
TheRealCAJ
D1 is down this year. The Catholic League especially. It happens. St Pauls is weak too along with the Baton Rouge schools. The wildcard might be St Aug because you never know what they will bring on a Friday night. They can look SO good and then turn around and look SO bad. They have players though. Small clip of Evangel and East St Louis, IL Evangel = white uniforms
Frosty4024
Rummel beats Byrd...and rather easily IF they show up on Offense... Evangel....well...

Nah, Rummel just isn't playing with any confidence and we are down 6 starters on offense with NO defense. Our playoff future is not too bright. The Top 3 seeds get byes...... and those are the largest privates/magnets in Louisiana for the most part. (D1 = 13 total teams) There are 3 or 4 really good D2 and D3 privates that should play up and could compete, but they choose to play in D2.and D3. When all those teams are solid and they normally are it's a decent 5A Private Playoffs. We have been split since 2013. John Curtis looking to get on the D1 Champ board. Past D1 Champions: 2017: ? 2016-Evangel Christian 2015-Baton Rouge Catholic 2014-Jesuit (NOLA) 2013-Archbishop Rummel (NOLA) The 5A Publics have 32 seeds. https://lhsaaonline.org/MainBracket32.aspx?s=1&y=2017&d=5A West Monroe is the #1 seed and appears to be the favorite. West Monroe last won state in 2011. TheRealCAJ
Blast from the past. 2014 D1 Championship game between Jesuit and John Curtis in front of 27,000. Jesuit 17 Curtis 14 That was an excellent Jesuit team. Tough as nails and had some speed.

East St John over Ruston, Ruston hasn't been tested since early October (West Monroe and Ouachita back-to-back). East St. John can put up points in bunches (Ex: 34 against Desty). Ruston SHOULD win this with their strong running game...But if they come in sleepwalking and ESJ overcome their road woes (doubtful)...It could be a long night for the Bearcats... I think Terrebonne at Ouachita has the makings of a mild upset... depends on which Ouachita team shows up on Friday

Soft schedule wins...Then got mudholed by any team in District with a pulse... I don't see it... I could see East Ascension falling on their asses though...but I gave then benefit of a doubt...

They were all bigger and badder than me

Of course that was the late 70s and there were only 4 classes..
