Top 10 looks good, but here is the problem with these type of polls.

Teams (Folsom, Christian Bros, Muskegon etc.) that never have to play elite opponents (SJB/MD) keep creeping up the list undefeated, where as better teams that lose to elite teams (Jserra) drop out.

At least be consistent, based on your penchant for ranking records over skill level, Why would multiple loss Hoover, and Liberty who got pounded by the only good team they played, still be ranked, but not Santa Margarita, JSerra or Servite.

You lose credibility because of your obsession with including Folsom in these types of examples

Folsom > JSerra and has more quality wins than AHP,  CC, Katy, Sr Frances, Allen, Lowndes, St Ed’s, MNW, among top 25 teams

Name their quality wins because I disagree with this 110 percent.

Sounds like a lot of work

why don’t you make your case if you have such passion

MHO based largely on CP and my definition of “quality” went to #350 to make the statement i did

i hope your counterpoint is more robust than telling me that you don’t agree with CP — it’s clearly close enough for point or their top 10/25 would look a lot different than humans and it doesn’t

I have never and never will refer to CP for anything.  My question has Folson beaten anyone, that anyone on this board has heard of?  How do you come up with this?

You’re entitled to deny CP — that’s a perennial debate — in any event, I️ thinknits silly to deny the RELATIVE ratings as the best (certainly in terms of comprehensiveness, arguably in terms of objectivity) first go-to source in these sorts of discussions

if you wanted to say you think x is too high or y is too low, that’s fair, but all you said was you deny any substance to CP’s relative rankings — IMHO, that’s a crutch for the weak-minded

you think whether you’ve ever heard of this or that CA team is somehow superior?  🙄

just because you’re 3,000 miles from Oak Ridge, Couer d’Alene (ID #2), Granite Bay, Jesuit, and Oakdale doesn’t make them less than — if you were to translate by rating, Folsom would have 5 wins over teams between #11 and #25 in GA.  A far cry from a Trinity league or IMG SOS (which is sammy’s Angst), but more than about 1/3 of the top 25 and my first response to him was just to say it’s inappropriate to use them (as he has satirically for years) as the poster team for weak scheduling — I’m not claiming it’s upper half for top teams but there are  lot more appropriate teams to use

Don’t feel insulted if I prefer CP, which generally somehow gets the same teams from 14,000 starting points as human polls, +|- a small variance, which are usually debatable or explainable — ie JC being 152 in 2012 was due to atrocious schedule and CP couldn’t see all those rivals stars)

JSerra's three game losing streak and the margin against Bosco were the reasons for them dropping out of the poll.    It is my opinion that Bosco would not beat Muskegon by 41.

And all of those teams you named stay home in their little bubble and will never test themselves against real competition.  Elder, Cathedral and Moeller would wreck the teams you mentioned and you know it.  Guess what they have in common?  They all go out and look for competition because they all want to prepare themselves for tough playoff runs if they make it.

They want Folsom to play an MD/ SJB/ CC, especially in retort to the Folsom guy that comes on everybthread to tell everyone how great they are

What does “playing someone” or “quality win” mean?

imho, some guys on here, and most especially those that would call SS-D1 their home teams, raise that “quality win” standard to a threshold that other teams just geographically, financially, etc can’t replicate.  Servite May have the top SOS in the country over last 5/6 years, playing DLS and BG regularly, in addition to Trinity League/ Pac5, so Sammy has a platform to be able to point at anyone, just like the BNU guys have a platform to call people out for OOS scheduling because it’s only about 3 socal freeway stops to any NJ stare border, but Folsom doesn’t deserve it any more than about 1/3 of the top 25 (as long as you accept CP is close enough for this discussion).  They have 5 wins in the top 350 teams and the 8 or 9 teams i names don’t and some are 2-3 short).  Not many teams can crank out 8 or 9 top 100 opponents like “your” teams can (without getting into discussion that imho although CP is perfectly valid to use for this sort of discussion, it does juice socal and other areas that play excellent sos while dealing the other way with some otherwise good teams that don’t (ie BG this year sliding, JC ‘12 finishing at #152 after winning most human pills)

i think Folsom has done what i alleged — played the equivilants of 5 GA top 25 teams (but none in top 10, which is what people are poking the Folsom antagonist for) and again, that may not sound like much but there are lots of top teams that can’t say that.

the local guys firing back at a Folsom guy claiming greatness constantly to go play MD/ SJB/ CC doesn’t mean Folsom ought to benposter boy of teams that get there with inflated rankings playing no one.

Plus, Folsom has some meat left, including (sans a DLS loss) CA’s 2nd best section bracket, norcal’s 3rd best team, and i think Upland would project as an SBG opponent — that’s be several more quality wins (using a reasonable national definition imho) plus a prove it game vs current 10-0 #31 Upland.  Last time they played a prove it game like that, they won by 60+ and time before that (sans DLS again) they beat a socal top 25 team by 28.

I react to about 1 our of every 100 Sammy Folsom references — appreciate that it’s accumulated grate

I️ always think you’re from GA — apologies

GCL is one of groups that play excellent comp — no arguement

I️ think you’re being a bit hyperbolic about elder, cathedral, and Moeller — else wasn’t much different than NCS teams when DLS played them long ago and our state champ just shut out your state champ 34-0 last season so there’s that

am not saying those theses would beat cathedral et al — am saying they’re top 300 or 400 and there’s A LOT of teams lacking those credentials that don’t get the constant shit Folsom does because of Sammy

am not really sure what you’re even arguing about — what is your point?

Fair enough points

but Calpreps favors Cal teams in their rating service

Folsom has had some good teams and victories but fail to win the one

some of us watch a lot of games and that's bigger than one that does not and a rating service

history says Folsom fails at the end

but you know what? Always a chance😀

CP may favor SoCal teams in their ratings but treats NorCal as bad or worse than GA.  It’s known as socal peeps on the NorCal boards.  This week in 2012, DLS was rated 9th in CA and was the only NorCal team in top 25.  A month later, they won the comp polls and their 4th straight stare championship by 20 (after MOV of previous 2 were 35 and 40).  And, a non-DLS best the pac 5 champs again in SBG.  DLS is 8th in CA right now and are no lower than 4th in any human poll.

i actually do watch some games — that whole rap was when i acknowledged that waTching copious amounts of games was NOT what i bring to the table.  As much as I’d concede the floor to several other of you on intimate knowledge of this team or that team, I’d take CP over any of you in a season long pick em contest and there’s not too many (a few but not many) that even when so enlightened can’t separate from what they want to be true

as not sure what you mean by Folsom having a history of failure — they are undefeated in SBGs, winning 2 games over a top 25 and top 100 team by 90+ points.  If those if you that watch more games consider that failure, I’d like to know what the criteria for success is

I dont shy away from telling the truth...

Take it how ya want to I guess... but I dont like much of it at all.

Miami Centrals too high.

Brentwood Academy in the top 20? Jesus...no way. Did you watch them play Bishop Dunne.

SFA is too low at 15.

Grayson #1 in GA after losing to Archer makes no sense. Lowndes, Archer, Grayson... there can be no other order. Results matter.

SJC ahead of DLS makes no sense. And both are way too high.

St. Ignatius at 20? Omg. They lost by 3 TDs to Moeller.

Theres no way to justify Pearl that high. Could you really see Pearl beating a team like Chaminade CA?

Wake Forest at 34? Why? Their resume is hardly even Top 100 atm. And Mallard Creek at 40. North Carolina isnt even close to good enough to have 2 teams in the top 40.

Liberty NV too high.

Tupelo too high.

Mission Viejo too low. Mallard Creek right by MV just looks wrong. Tupelo, Wake Forest, and Pearl over MV... oh lawd.

Valor Christian at 49? Really now... I guess GAC GA is #55 or so. It wasnt a fluke, they played last year also. Valor Christian would get hammered by some of the teams below them.

Colquitt and 5-10 other GA teams would beat Valor Christian by 4+ TDs.

West Point is the best team in MS.

I could do this for almost the whole thing... so Ima stop now

Wait... Martinsburg WV? I cant. I just cant.

:P hope this helps!

CP sucks.

I’ll critique your critique —

much i agree with, but....

most if your comments are teams being too high not too low — i’m not sure if there are really that many better teams in all those instances vs you just thinking so and so at #x smells too high.  Point being that once you get past top 10, pretty much everyone has some warts (even if just sos) and the teams your questioning might not have less than the teams you’d replace them with — again, most comments were x and y too low (inc DLS and sjc and btw he has DLS one spot lower than the company poll which has them in a very tight 15-19 range — this is clearly your hater-you talking)

think you’re rough on valor Christian and crazy to say 6-11 GA teams would beat Valor by 4 TDs — they’d be a fringe top 10 team in GA, which means I agree 49 seems a bit high, but everyone would bet all day Long on valor getting 28 against any GA team

They wouldnt touch the top 10 in GA.

Ive seen them 2 years in a row vs GAC.

Theyd be #18 in GA at CalPreps... and thats insanely generous.

Ive heard your thoughts on who stand where in comparison to GA, not interested.
