Looking at Bishop Gormans games vs other Nevada teams this season...

So far they havent given up a single point in 7 games in-state...

Theyve outscored those 7 opponents 398-0. Or 56.86-0 on average per game.

At what point do those teams just start forfeiting pregame...

Dang that's crazy. You gotta figure it would suck for Gorman players too. Having zero competition. The only thing to look forward to in their instate games us the pregame handshake.

They NEED to do as Bishop Sullivan and IMG have done! Just play a national schedule, and forgo the instate bullshit! Let those teams play with themselves! Athletic masturbation if you will!

Good sportsmanship by The Bishop.  Otta win the hearts of the governing body.

You could argue that they are IMG west, or maybe IMG is BG east.  Anytime you have to watch out for scorpions on the way into the stadium, you can't be playing a good team.

Truth be told, Cen10 is in the same boat but has fewer shut outs.  With their D though, they need to score 60 or more.  In this manner, both teams have become a victim of their own success and have outgrown their leagues with no alternative.   At least Cen10 has to face competitive teams in the playoffs.  BG has no choice but to load up heavy in OOL games.  Unfortunately for them, it caught up with them this year.

What about when Bishop Gorman was 6-5 losing to small no name Texas teams by 4 touchdowns?

They weren't this dominate for decades. They committed money for facilities, coaching, equipment etc to attract the areas best players. Who wouldn't want to go to Gorman in the Vegas area?

So now they should be punished because their commitment to excellence has surpassed everyone else to the point they are not competitive?

That's a bad message. It says don't strive for greatness because you will be ridiculed and criticized by the people who don't have the desire or motivation to strive for the same standards of excellence you set for yourself.

Been over this a million times. Privates schools around the country are aware of what they can do to get football players, and many of the teams that are in the national spotlight on a yearly basis have used the same formula. It is a fairly new phenomena, where private schools have taken it to the next level.

How do all the BG league and state foes who are public schools compete as far as "money for facilities, coaching, equipment etc" not only for "the areas best players" but also for blue chip talent from the California coast?

Not seeing the difference between BG and their Nevada opponents is an example of someone just arguing to argue. BG should be in a regional or national league of teams that have the same advantages they do. It would be very good football.

You make some very good points. Think both sides — Gorman and the rest of the Nevada publics — would benefit from the Gaels going regional/national in some form or fashion. In a perfect world, Gorman's success would raise the level of competitiveness around the state to match that program. However, that's not really feasible there, IMO. Other places where there's a greater concentration of D1 talent, sure. Nevada is a different story.

But as long as they are complying with the state's rules then they shouldn't be punished for their commitment to excellence.

I didn't realize they are being punished. I did see they have outscored their 7 in-state opponents 398-0. Punished? Shit, they're at the amusement park with an unlimited ride and concessions pass, able to go to the front of the line whenever they please.

The other schools must not give a hoot about getting their brains beat in or they would have put pressure on their governing body to make a change by now. They will have much more bargaining power collectively than BG does.

The fact that 80%+ of Nevada's D1 has landed at BG should be alarming. No way in hell will the publics be able to compete from here on out.

They should not allow the Bishop to compete in a state ship if they insist on receiving athletic recruits from the Nevada borders.

And Dless needs to tighten up there admission standards. There were some “bad hombres” roaming the halls these past 11 months.

Totally agree. I hope the guys get punished to the fullest extent of the law if found to be true. And yeah like hawg said in another thread some just fall thru the cracks. Would love to be able to reach and help every single kid, but it's sad when you don't get to that one who needed it the most.

When Bishop Gorman went 6-5 should they have begged the governing body to force the teams beating them to forfeit.

So Bishop Gorman should sell off their facilities and work out of trailers and a concert box with weights in it. Ask local teams to rent out their stadium, and turn away everyone wishing to continue their athletic and academic high school career there.

Hell, they should just fold the entire program and get into a different field altogether. Use the property to make another casino or something

So the message is if someone gets too good they should be forced out of the league.

Alabama should be booted out the SEC.

They should make a rule that when ever you win a certain amount of titles you are not allowed to compete again.

Ugh now u know how DLS has felt when it came to the state bowl games. Until the whiny SoCal got their 1 week bye for only the open game.
