Coletrain06 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 I've always wanted to apply the Harbin system to another state to see what it would look like. Because GA 7A only has 48 teams, I split it into 2 Regions of 24 teams with the top 16 making the playoffs. Coming up with a geographic split was pretty hard, but I decided to go with West and East........I included the Region 1 teams in the East Region, and the Forsyth schools in the West Region. "West" Region 1 38.64 Walton (10-0) 2 31.20 South Forsyth (9-1) 3 28.95 Hillgrove (7-3) 4 27.48 McEachern (7-3) 5 26.87 Milton (8-2) 6 24.55 North Paulding (8-2) 7 22.35 Marietta (6-4) 8 21.25 North Cobb (6-4) 9 20.71 West Forsyth (7-3) 10 19.76 Westlake (7-3) 11 18.40 Lassiter (6-4) 12 18.10 Woodstock (6-4) 13 16.54 East Coweta (5-5) 14 13.75 Etowah (5-5) 15 12.89 Pebblebrook (6-4) 16 10.40 Newnan (4-6) ==================================== 9.70 North Forsyth (5-5) 9.18 Campbell (4-6) 8.85 Roswell (3-7) 6.76 Wheeler (2-8) 5.85 Kennesaw Mountain (4-6) 1.71 Lakeside (2-8) 0.00 Forsyth Central (0-10) 0.00 Cherokee (0-10) "East" Region 1 35.85 North Gwinnett (9-1) 2 35.45 Archer (10-0) 3 33.45 Lowndes (10-0) 4 29.83 Grayson (9-1) 5 29.80 Tift County (9-1) 6 28.05 Brookwood (8-2) 7 25.66 Colquitt County (7-3) 8 24.15 Mill Creek (7-3) 9 18.50 Parkview (7-3) 10 18.25 Newton (7-3) 11 15.90 Norcross (5-5) 12 15.15 Mountain View (8-2) 13 14.60 Collins Hill (6-4) 14 13.70 Central Gwinnett (5-5) 15 13.35 Meadowcreek (7-3) 16 6.75 South Gwinnett (3-7) =================================== 5.80 Camden County (3-7) 3.60 Peachtree Ridge (2-8) 2.30 Duluth (3-7) 1.30 Lambert (2-8) 1.30 Shiloh (1-9) 1.00 Discovery (1-9) 0.65 Rockdale County (1-9) 0.00 Berkmar (0-10) 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It elimimates teams that really shouldnt be in... The only bad part... It creates alot of immediate rematches.... Example Brookwood just got done playing Norcross at home... they'd have to play them again right off the bat at Home... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Coletrain06 Posted November 9, 2017 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 Keep in mind that you could change the Regions if there was something that made more geographic sense. Also keep in mind, in Ohio since 2013 there's 73 teams in D1.........prior to that, there were 119 teams in D1. There's alot more teams missing the playoffs in Ohio D1. ECHS05 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 Pretty cool man... Look like an interesting way to do it. The East region got all the real contenders outside of Walton and SoFor. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Camden would be east... Lowndes is slightly eadtt... Colquitt and Tift are west... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TheMaximumHornetSting Posted November 9, 2017 Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 Hmm I'd like to try this with 3A,5A and 6A. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TheMaximumHornetSting Posted November 9, 2017 Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 Technically Tift would be 3rd in the west region... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Very True.....I struggled with arranging the Regions because of that reason, but decided to go with geography/logic over handpicking the best ...........and that's just this year.....In a state like Georgia with true parity, this could even out any year. TheMaximumHornetSting Posted November 9, 2017 Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 It would be confusing to do it with the Middle GA schools... because The Houston County schools are literally split in portions of the county you'd have: Houston HS-West Warner Robins- East Northside-East Veterans-West Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For 2013, 2014, and 2015 Ohio went to 2 Regions with 16 teams making the playoffs,..........and all the Top Teams loved it, because they weren't stuck with all of the Top teams in a Loaded Region, while the other Regions skated to the Semi's..........However, last year, most all the other teams wanted to return to 4 Regions, so we're back at 4 Regions. In THIS state, it's ALL about the MONEY! The MORE the MERRIER! How else do you splain our having 32 teams each, in EIGHT CLASSIFICATIONS? Jist fer shits and giggles though! About half of our #1 and #2 seeds, miss the playoffs under your formula! And #3 seed Colquitt BARELY makes your playoff! A team that took two TOP TEN teams in the state to the end, before last second victories! You have an at large team in Marietta, who BARELY got in, as a #7! For the most part, there is no ducking and hiding in D1 in Ohio. You have to beat teams that actually go out and beat other teams. If you can beat 3 teams that can get at least 7 wins, you are usually sitting pretty. Moeller got in the Ohio playoffs this year because they beat a 9-1 St. Ignatius and and 8-2 Scott County, Kentucky. Scott County is the number 2 team in Kentucky. Moeller went 4-6 this season with some real ugly losses. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
