For Georgia fans regarding region configurations!

This topic arose on the Georgia board recently! What say YOU? They question the sanity of having only the highest 48 enrollments in 7A! That rivalries have been diminished, what with Valdosta, Coffee, Lee, and Northside now being in the bush leagues! I personally vote for combining the five teams in 1-6A with the four in 1-7A! That would produce a nine team region, with eight region games! The downside would be, having some pretty good teams being left out of the 32 team playoffs!

Detractors say that it would be unfair to include 6A teams with their 1-7A counterparts because of the disparity of enrollments! REALLY? How is having a coupla hundred students fewer than their brethren in 1-7A, any worse than Colquitt and Tift, having 700-1500 fewer students than a Parkview, Brookwood, Grayson, McEachern, Norcross, or a Mill Creek et al.? This bullshit about leaving us with a mere three playoff teams, because former 1-7A teams have been SQUUUUUUEEEEZED out of 7A, is PURE BULLSHIT! From the North Georgia perspective, they say that Camden SHOULDA been penalized for an 0-3 region record! REALLY, they were vastly better than Pebblebrook, Newnan, East Coweta, Westlake, or Campbell! And four of those made the playoffs! But Camden sat home while those chumps wasted our time, laying them to rest! What's YOUR solution, or do you think that this isolation issue should continue?

I remember in Academic Bowl we had a 14 Meet schedule similar to a Football schedule...

Tift was the smallest Bowl team with 14 people in the 7A group.

My senior year we where:

@ Warner Robins

@ Lee County

Vs. Lowndes

Vs. Cairo

Vs. Berrein

Vs Colquitt

@ Valdosta -I single handidly eliminated their entire team...

Then it came to a screeching halt when we lost to North Gwinnett....

Y'all lost to something with North in the name?!

Your southern card is hereby revoked until further notice. I'll defer to the commish in case there is some form of recourse that can be had to reinstate your southern card. In the meantime you should roam the northern streets and see what you have done.

I agree with a lot of what you said. But the classifications are more than just football, correct? Probably bigger what meets the eye

Thing IS though, other than football! Classifications don't really mean much! When Dwight Howard was at the lil private school in South Atlanta! They could have probably played with ANYBODY! As it IS in 1-7A, for sports other than football! They hafta schedule all other sports on FRIDAY! If they involve Camden, which is more than a 100 miles from Lowndes, Tift, and Colquitt! And in baseball/softball, they hafta schedule DH!

Speaking of sports other than football! Until recently, Camden played DOWN in all other sports, because of the isolation clause!

The classes are for more than football...

There are some Non-athletic Events and Activities effected by The Classification system.

THAT'S just semantics! There are certain sports where they combine the classifications! SEEMS as though three of those are swimming/diving/rifle! With THAT as Exhibit A! The GHSA can do anything they wish to do!

Drama

Academic Bowl

Band Competitions

Choral Competitions

Etc...

I think that some of the ones you mention, don't even have region competition, because some schools don't offer every event! It's more of a statewide thing! I know at Colquitt, they offer about thirty plus sports/events, that are not offered throughout the state! CONVERSELY, there are certain sports in North Georgia, that aren't available in SOWEGA, such as lacrosse and volleyball!

You single handedly eliminated Valdosta, because the only student they have who can read, is the one operating the elevator at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium!:)
