Michigan guys? Wisconsin guys?

Any of you out there?

A couple questions. Just how good, exactly, is Muskegon? From what I’ve been able to see, they’re really impressive. Would like to hear some opinions on how they stack up with the rest of the country.

Similar question about Kimberly, Wisconsin. All they do is win. They look impressive but how would they stack up with the other teams there.

Very curious to see what people think of these teams.

The best athletes in their area play hockey.

they would be a decent D-2 team in So Cal.  Don 't let their record fool you.  Think The devil with slower lighter guys and no QB.

they haven't played a relevant team since Bo Shembechler coached there.

I hope this is a troll job.

I watched King and Class Tech from Detroit a couple of games this season.  Both squads have skill athletes for days and some solid line play.  King's rb who was a Michigan commit was injured early in the year.  I could have the teams mixed up but I would put both of the squads in the top 10 of Ohio from the early part of the season.

Muskegon has a decent team this year. I was higher on them earlier this season after watching via video of their game with Pioneer before their game with Stevenson. After the Stevenson game my opinion somewhat lowered even though they won by 3 TDs.

Kimberly is of interest because they have the nations longest winning streak and seem to have that DLS type mystique within Wisconsin. They would probably get more respect if they would step OOS and play comparable teams from IL, Indiana or Ohio.

@Adam Kurkjian is a HSFB guru. You should know this by now. College posters need not apply here.

No harm, no foul. Huge college guy as well and @HSFBfan have had some good CFB discussions on private message. Just wish we had some more Michigan and Wisconsin guys on here to get some perspective on those two programs. They seem pretty stout.

They might be but who have they played on a national scale

Not much, but that's why I wanted to get opinions from people that have actually seen them play. Not every good team out there plays a great OOS schedule.

You can't just assume Kimberly or Muskegon aren't as good as one of the top Ohio teams simply because they're from Michigan or Wisconsin. That's brand recognition evaluation at its laziest.

If we are in the position of trying to figure out who the best teams are, then we have to go beyond OOS daisy chains, because the sample size is too small to account for the full scope. Therefore, the "eye test," aka, posts from nptb and gospeeder, bring more value to the exercise than simply looking up scores on calpreps, which is all well and good, but not a be-all, end-all.

But isnt this a national board where we talk about teams in the top 100 in the country? I understand what your trying to do. But if these teams were that legit wouldnt we see teams from Ohio calling them to play instead of Ohio flying across the country to play teams? Or wouldnt we see more Wisconsin vs Michigan matchups?

Yes, that's the point of this thread (Muskegon is 27th on calpreps, by the way). I'm just looking for opinions on the subject from people who have actually seen the teams this year.

This is a high school board, talking a lot about the top 100, but certainly not excluding top programs from other states. If it were just the top 100 we were discussing, just think how many NJ threads and posters would be muted.

I just don't see a problem talking about any and all high school football. This board isn't called the PrepGridiron Top 100 dot com. I know we all do primarily discuss the top 100 or so teams, and their opponents (most especially if they are ranked very lowly) So automatically we are discussing teams outside of the top 100 just by picking and pointing out the weak opponents that some play, as a favorite pass time of quite a few posters.

I think any and all high school football talk should be welcome, especially considering the alternatives that we see getting action on the OT board.

That, and, if we talk about the same five states in every thread you end up rehashing the same arguments over and over for YEARS and it's boring as hell. You want to start another Georgia vs. California thread, have at it. I'll guarantee you it won't go any different than any of the other 3,000.

I agree completely. I wish we could open the doors for all fifty states guys to come in and post with us. Let's really chop it up and show them all why we think our teams are better than their trash! That and/or they open our eyes to the fact that pollsters have had us snowed for years and that there are great teams in every state.

I'd love to have a plethora of boards connected to this one, kind of like the OT board, but like regional or state boards where the conversations can grow organically and then be featured up here if we think they are going places etc.

Anything to keep new blood pumping through so we don't all fizzle out or start hating one another.
