A renewal of the 1992 letter, albeit an even bleaker report.

In the words of our friend HSFBfan, we are all gonna die of something anyway. No use in running around trying to prolong the inevitable

More troubling is the fact that many parents don't seem to care what kind of world they are bequeathing their children and grandchildren. Perhaps we are approaching endgame for us as a species. If so, I hope we don't take the rest of life here on earth with us.

Too bad if we leave a desolate planet for explorers from planets distant to ponder what happened here.

So 25 years later  the 'ozone layer' has been pretty much fixed, can't do much about asteroids, and the best they can come up with is POPULATION CONTROL..o.O....

REALLY? Population control? Sounds like these 'scientists' (term used loosely) just figured out that "there is nothing you can eat that provides any nourishment for the human body, that was not once part of a living being" and (realizing the parasites that they/we are) are starting to feel guilty about it.

Love their coup de gras or  "coup de grâce"  (take your pick lol)

“By failing to adequately limit population growth, ....

... humanity is not taking the urgent steps needed to safeguard our imperilled biosphere.”

Sure we should address environmental issues, but these are not the qualified or 'enlightened' voices to follow...

Spoken like someone who is conceited enough to believe that mankind has the ability to 'destroy all life' on this planet......

Clue: we are not even close.

Even if we 'could' wipe out all of 'mankind',  the earth and many viable species would continue on, and prosper into many more..

I get what you are trying to say, but it's obvious  you really don't understand what your 'parents' think either......

Maybe that's just because they have been around a little while longer...

I think a part of the point of this letter is... We got aggressive with chlorofluorocarbons  and the hole in the ozone is now stabilized. Regulation can work, if implemented quickly enough and aggressive enough to halt the known issues.

We replace chlorofluorocarbons with hydrofluorocarbons which are still a global warming agent, so we did nothing to slow that issue. They aren't the sole cause but we now do know that the HCFC's regulation helped stabilize the loss of ozone, so regulation can help.
