Be careful, there are many pitfalls on the long and winding road of life!" Trump's caring and heartfelt warning to these black youths is... well... it's kinda... bizarro world. I just find it so ironic that Trump should be giving life advise to anyone.

They were facing up to 10 years in prison
DevilDog
They should Thank President Trump daily for stepping on their behalf and actually that is what the Government is suppose to do when American Citizens run afoul of the law abroad. It seems they may have stolen from more than 1 store as well: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2017/11/11/ucla-players-several-stores/

But here are the facts The sunglasses in the Louis Vuitton store in Hangzhou are priced at or around 4,900 yuan ($750). According to Chinese law, anyone stealing goods worth between 4,000 and 7,000 yuan faces between one and two years in jail, although the sentence can be mitigated if they confess, show remorse and pay compensation.

All i stated was what I read. That they were facing 3-10 years in jail. And yes they do owe him their life in terms of their future. Without Trump they have a criminal record. Now they have no record at all.

The stole from at least 3 different stores so maybe it would have been separate charges for each incident. I'm sure he did not pull the 10 years out a hat. China laws are crazy also. Just like if you run someone over it is best to run them over again to make sure they are dead as you would have to pay lifetime support if they live.

I will disagree in kind. Again they should thank him for his intervention. But he didn't save their lives. Those Knuckleheads were never going to do any long jail time over this. Now I don't think their asses should be allowed to play BBall either over it.

But there is nowhere that the Chinese mentioned those fools facing 10 years. Yahoo Sports mentioned 3-10 years and they were proven to be wrong: No doubt they were lucky President Trump was there at that time. Opportunistic thief's. Though many of the details of this week’s incident remain unknown, Cohen said the possibility that the UCLA players could be imprisoned for 3-10 years, as reported by Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday, is “extremely unlikely.” He believes the players will most likely be fined, which would both validate the Chinese legal system but also not interfere with U.S.-China relations. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2017/11/08/liangelo-ball-ucla-players-arrest-china-law-experts/846856001/

Thus their sorry asses are lucky. Freaking stealing when your family is Rich; WTF

On one hand it is great that POTUS intervened on their behalf and got them out but on the other hand i would have liked to see suffer the consequences that the Chinese saw fit.
