The brother of Orange Lutheran QB Ryan Hillinski has apparently committed suicide in his room at WSU.Tyler Hillinski was the back up QB and a redshirt sophomore

Messed up and odd. He had just gotten his first start and did well; the future looked promising. I wonder what was going on in his  personal life to lead him to suicide, if indeed that's what he did?

It is not really odd - there are many things that can cause teenagers and young adults to do this.  And it really is not our right to know.  Prayers to his family, friends and teammates.

Sure, that is true. But this young man had a promising future ahead of him. Perhaps it is just symptomatic of societal problems. My sympathies to his family, teammates and friends.

True but when have you ever heard of a current football QB who just started in the bowl game do that... I’ve not seen it my 25 years on this planet

That was exactly my point. Young man, from a distance, seemed like he was at the top of his game. To commit suicide so soon after one of the greatest moments in his life seemed odd to me.

All sorts of people who seemed to “have everything” have killed themselves.  Sometimes our public lives hide a lot of inner turmoil.  Life is more than football. (And 25 years on this planet is often a pretty limited life experience).

Very sad for the college football family as a whole the cougar family and of course his family. We have to do more as a society to try to help teens and young adults when it comes to their mental state. See the signs and tell someone if you see it. Some people are very good at hiding what is really going on. At the end of the day this is very sad. As someone who lost a family member at a young age it certainly hits home. RIP.

It took me aback earlier today when I read about the incident. I remember watching the kid at Upland... from what I’ve heard, he was always an upbeat positive guy who liked to tell jokes any given opportunity. Really shows just how hard it is to tell what someone is going through underneath it all.

Sometimes joking around a lot is a front to some serious deep stuff. It's very sad. Guys like John belushi robin Williams Chris farley etc all were very funny and had some very dark demons. Not that I'm comparing situations but you can draw a parallel. Like I said I lost a family member in their 20s so it hits very close to home.
