Marietta,GA vs St Thomas Aquinas

I texted the coach for Marietta asking if he would be open to the possibility of going to Texas. I knew some teams still needing games so I thought I would reach out. He said he would be interested, but he just got his schedule complete. I already spoke to him last week when he told me he was trying to make it happen with Jones and Aquinas. So i asked him if that who he was playing and he said yes.

He didn't specify home or away but I believe there was a rumor swirling that Aquinas would be in South FL on ESPN, and Jones will travel North.

Right now this early I would say Marietta loses to STA but beats Jones.

Aquinas will be able to match them across the board and seems to play better at home on these stages.

Jones is very athletic but it's backyard ball. It's Stephenson style. A lot of D1 guys, but will be overwhelmed by more disciplined and well coached teams. Cardinal Gibbons didn't have half the talent as Jones but blew them off the field in the 1st round.

I will call it a success if these games end in a split

They did. That's why they're getting much better. Top 5 in the state last year.

But D1-wise, Jones had a ton of dudes. They were getting them in at break neck speed. Let's just say Jones will be forfeiting everything in a few years. Lol .

I wouldn't be surprised if cardinal gibbons eventually overtakes quite a few teams in broward in next few years

Plus hearing Chaminade might be more loaded next year than this year

Honestly i thought Jones was gonna get slapped with something but when nothing happened i figured trail went cold

Either that or fhsaa is the slowest investigators in history

If they play these 2 OOS games... Mariettas schedule in some order will be...

STA FL, Jones FL, Grayson, Rome, McEachern, Hillgrove, North Paulding, North Cobb, Kennesaw Mountain...

Not sure who the 10th is, unless they are playing Blessed Trinity again... Who are the reigning 4A Champs and will be better in 2018 also.

Theres only 3 sure-fire, no doubt, wins in there... (Although they did lose to North Cobb & North Paulding last year)

PGL didn't assist w STA. From what I was told, a current Marietta admin used to work at STA and helped facilitate w them. Great match-up.

If the rumors are true that STA is also playing SJR at the Freedom Bowl in GA, that's two very good OOS games for STA.

If the Freedom Bowl is 3 games in GA then it looks like it would be STA vs SJR and then Mainland and Chaminade vs North Gwinnett and Milton

I think they should have had 1 more GA team and nixed Chaminade or Mainland.

95% of the powers in FLAAAWDA play backyard ball! I don't think that Booker T. or Miami Central have a playbook! They just recruit the shit outta Miami, and see if you can stop their WR's on fly patterns!

Well, most Georgia teams don't wait til Feb. to fill out their schedules!

Chaminade vs North Gwinnett?

I certainly hope so

Chaminade should be very good this year (I'm hearing better than 2017 team) and they will probably roll through 3a again

This would be the perfect opportunity for them to make a name for themselves on national scene

Is north gwinnett supposed to be as good as this past year?

Yes, North Gwinnett should be just as good, if not even better.

Of course, Im assuming they find a suitable QB. They lost a 3* North Carolina commit, although he got hurt in the 1st game and didnt play the rest of the season... The back up came in and led them to a title... But Im going to assume theyll be ok at QB.

And losing Jayden McDonald may hurt... Despite being a 3* LB, he may have been the Defensive MVP in GA. Guy was a stud and crushed people.

But yeah, North Gwinnett brings back 15 starters, theyll be good. Top 5 preseason no doubt... With Colquitt, Grayson, Marietta, & Archer.

If Milton is as good as last year, Mainland may be in trouble.

Milton lost 3 games, BUT... 1 was a 31-28 heartbreaking loss to eventual State Champ North Gwinnett in the 2nd game of the season... And North Gwinnett needed a 4th quarter game winning drive to beat Milton. North Gwinnett had 4th and 6 from Miltons 13, with under a minute left and converted on a 10 yard pass, and scored the next play 3 yards out with only 12 seconds left in the game.

Milton would also lose 21-13 to a South Forsyth team that finished the regular season undefeated...

Milton also lost just 28-23 to a really good Brookwood team in the 2nd rd of the playoffs.... They were a quarterfinalist-quality team..

They should be good again.

I thought it was 6 in GA... And 6 in CA (equivalent type Bowl Games)

It doesn't specify. It just says 6 games. Could be for both sites combined

Chaminade is still a 3A team who got ran out of the stadium by AHP and Miami Central even though Chaminade had equal talent.

Its frustrating because I don't think either game would be a good match for the FL team. The only chance to split would be for Chaminade to play Milton.

if those rumors are  true for a rumor  that another rumor would be that STA does not want to play that school from the north.......one rumor could be that they did not like the match up
