McCaffrey new HC at Valor Christian (CO)

The McCaffreys sent their kids to their local catholic grade school, and the oldest (Max, WR on SF 49er roster) then went on to Regis Jesuit for his freshman year. Regis was looking for a new coach after Max's first year there, and Ed wanted the position badly. Regis did not go with Ed, so the McCaffreys took Max out of Regis and sent him to the upstart school down the road, Valor Christian. The success of the McCaffreys in youth ball (particularly Christian), has played a huge part in Valor getting other top kids as well, whose parents wanted their sons to join the talented McCaffreys.

The last McCaffrey (Luke) has been used as a WR/RB/QB at Valor, and the poop is that Ed wan't too fond of the idea of his son alternating at QB this last year -- even though the other QB signed to play in college at the University of Colorado (a senior this year, that kid's dad, Steve Stenstrom, like Ed McCaffrey, played at Stanford and in the NFL).

Luke will be a senior this coming year, and Valor has some other talent around him, so I presume Ed will have a good team in 2018. We'll see if he stays on after Luke graduates, and if he will be as successful as the previous Valor coaches. Something tells me his time as HC will be short-lived, and/or he won't be as dominant as he thinks he will be if he sticks around.

I have no idea.

The McCaffreys have been phenomenal high school athletes, and are known as respectful, hard-working kids.

But Ed has proven to be a take-my-ball-and-go-home type of guy as far as I'm concerned.

Can't argue the success of his 4 kids though (Duke, Stanford, Michigan, and ?).

Just because people played in the NFL doesn't mean they can coach. And is this something you can see him doing for 10 plus years?

The best coaches at the high school level are 100 percent dedicated to the programs. It's not some hobby because theyre bored and want to ensure their kid gets playing time. They live in the community. Get their haircut at the local barber. Get a free meal at Sal's diner. Lol.

Now if you can recruit the shit out of the area like Flanagan did with Devin Bush that's a different story.

But long term I don't think it's a good idea

Very true, and the college level, it seems these great players can't quite get it done.
