Coach West Q&A

Recommended Posts

We are just under 20 minutes from starting.

We'd like to welcome Coach West to Prepgridiron.com.

Jayson West is the head coach at Warren Central in Indianapolis, Indiana. Coach West enters his sixth season as coach of the Warriors with a record of 46-16. Prior to taking over the perennial powerhouse program at Warren Central in 2013, Coach served as the head coach at Lawrence Central where he amassed a record of 52-12 and took a program that had never won a football championship to a 15-0 record and a 5A title in 2012.

In collaboration with PrepGridiron Logistics, coach has been kind enough to give us some of his time and answer several questions posed by the members of this board. As we have done in the past, we will be asking coach the questions and he will be responding in the thread. We will be asking coach five questions and expect to open up the floor to members. Feel free to respond and ask questions, note, however, that it will be at Coach's discretion whether he responds further. Lastly, we ask that you keep your responses civil and on topic. The thread will be heavily moderated so that we can encourage other coaches to come on in the future. Thanks again, Coach, and everyone enjoy.

UPDATE: Coach is running just a few minutes behind and will join us shortly. First question will be asked at that time.

Very good team with the best player we have coached against.  Their QB was very very good in the high school world...elite speed and great confidence.  I dont know if they were top 5 in Indiana history - I would compare them to the LC team we had that was 15-0!  The old Warren Central teams were elite.  Indianapolis football has grown in leaps in bounds the last 20 years and with 5 or so new super schools in the suburbs there is more competition than back then.  But most of the talent was more clumped at BD or WC etc.  So I dont think we will see the caliber of the WC teams that won 4 states in a row but we do see every week - really good teams!  If that makes sense.
