NOBODY has brought this up about the Falcons BUT

What in the HELL is up with Julio? He has always appeared to be a team playa, even playing hurt at times! But NOW, in what I think is his declining years!(Supa Bowl was his high water mark) He has decided to opt OUT of preseason practice sessions! THIS is the SAME dude who had ONE TD pass reception in 2017! And to top THAT off, he has made an UNPRESIDENTED move with management, to renegotiate his contract TWO YEARS EARLY! SMELLS like he KNOWS he is in decline! And wants to steal new money, before the money ain't offered down the road! He may also be feeling the heat, after the Falcons signed a WR in the FIRST ROUND!(And Ridley ain't even the best receiver in his own family)

THAT, plus the monstrous contract they just gave the choker of Pennsylvania. I see some sticky shit coming in Flowardy Brainch!

Personally, I'm disappointed in how both parties are handling this situation. To me, Julio is showing that he doesn't have the team's best interest in mind and is being selfish.

If he wants to renegoiate his contract and the organization is willing to do so, then fine. That's not my issue. Julio should show his commit by being at all team activities whether mandatory or not and be the leader that the team needs. He has no business getting a raise if he can't fulfill the leadership role that a huge paycheck demands.

My issue with the organization is they are letting Julio and his agent basically extort the team and management. While Julio has been extremely valuable to the team, he has shown that he isn't the difference maker that will put the Falcons over the top. With the paycheck he wants, you have to be able to do that, if not physically and through individual performance, then you damn sure bring the leadership and intangibles  to the table. Honestly, instead of paying him more and jeopardizing the future of the franchise; I would cut ties.

Just my thoughts...

Highly doubt that...Falcons now have Calvin Ridley and julio Jones has wr. The highest paid QB in the game. Falcons will be just fine

The highest paid QB in the game is not a plus with the salary cap.  And he clearly is not the best QB in the game.  I think their high water mark for the foreseeable future was 3 minutes left in the 3rd in SB 51.

I'm not saying hes the best but he has multiple weapons in a division that is competitive but winnable. Matt ryan will be slinging the ball all over the field. I understand when you pay a qb the amount of money he is you take away from other positions but in the NFC south u better be able to put up points

It is a tough division.  The NFC is brutal.  I actually think the Falcons should win the division, but getting through the NFC playoffs will be tough - especially if the 49ers join the mix this year.  Eagles, Rams, Vikings, Saints, Panthers - not even mentioning Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks.  AFC much easier (for teams named New England).

R u really gonna trust a NE castaway to be a successful starting Qb....go look at the track record of the QBs that backed up tom brady and became starters it's not good. Seahawks are a train wreck. Their whole secondary is gone

Jimmy G was not a castaway - Belichick wanted him to be the heir but could not pay him $25 mil to ride the pine behind Brady.  And Jimmy G would not have stayed for that anyways - he wants to play.  The kid showed great in 5 games last year - put 40 on the Jags.  Not 100% sold, but most observers think he is going to be very, very good.  And Belichick did too.

Again there have been successful QBs behind brady that did nothing when they back starters somewhere else. After 5 games the 49ers paid him what 150 million. Let's be honest and say belichek knows what he is doing and hell probably come out the winner in this deal again. Look at Jimmy g and the 49ers division the Seahawks lost a ton. The rams should be good. And the cardinals will be decent but nothing crazy. Rams should be the front runner in that division. I dont put stock in a qb that started 5-6 games and got paid what he did

I assure you Belichick did not want to trade JG.  He was in a pissed off mood the rest of the year after the trade.  He let him go to the 49ers for a second round pick - for goodness sake.  He could have gotten more - the 49ers were clearly going to give him big money.  Belichick just wanted the situation over - he likes JG and he likes Lynch - the GM in SF.
