Well ya boy took a light injury yesterday...

Or so I thought... While doing my usual activities and enjoying life or trying to... I managed to fall halfway through a doorway and a big gust of wind blew  the screen door shut on me it ripped through my shirt and dug pretty deep into my skin...

Me and my friend thought nothing of it so we cleaned it with Peroxide,Alcohol and Neosporin.

Well when I woke up this morning I started stretching and the wound started back bleeding.

The door got me in the side of my chest.... so as you can guess Im in the hospital waiting...

With no health Insurance....

And according to a nurse I'll probably have to get it stitched shut....

Sorry to hear.

Universal healthcare is obliviously a moral imperative. How Obie did it was a disaster. Done correctly, our bought politicians would never allow.

Should take you a year or more to pay off the bill. Ridiculous. Call and negotiate when the bill comes.

In Georgia, unless you are eligible for medicaid, you have to apply for indigent care in order to get relief from paying or having your credit ruined for necessary care at a hospital.

This is part of why I say capitalists have no business anywhere near healthcare.

They will hold your child's, sibling's, parent's or your own health hostage in trade for payment. People face financial ruin daily due to this.

I know In California you can apply for emergency Medi-Cal insurance .Do they have anything like that in your state?

Not to my knowledge....

GA is a stingy bitch when it comes to Health insurance for single men 18-50...

My reason for saying this is because GA health Insurance is often made for Children and Women... primarily Pregnant women and People with Disabilities.  Extremely understandable.

But someone like me. Single male age 20 no spouse....

Im at the bottom of the concern list... and the only health insurance I am elligible for cost a hefty 250 a month...

Hospitals have what is called indigent care funds to provide for people falling through the cracks.

The requirement is basically you spend as much as you earn on daily expenses. The hospitals don't usually tell you they have this available so you have to ask the financial dept. for an application. I think the fund may not be unlimited so after so many applicants, they may not take more applications.

Things get expensive when you you are forced to pay for coverage that includes things you don't want nor urgently need.

that is wildly inexpensive.

just an FYI

For NY and NJ yes... but down here cost of living is different... and I brung home 1600 a month...

Rent dropped a little to a 1000

Cellphone 110

Cable and internet 150

Food Buy as I need usually about 80 a month

Gas 65 a month

Car Insurance 110

And then miscellaneous about 200...

Honestly I probably could But the reason I dont just get it is. Because it doesnt cover dental or vision....

Dental is about 50...

Vision is about another 200 almost...

You are a college student? Stiches is an ER issue, but shots, x-rays and blood work and shit like that should either be covered by your student health services or at a much cheaper rate. Just as an example.

I have never once in my life heard of GA giving students Health Insurance....

I dont think GA does that....

Once you turn 18 you have to find your own insurance...
